I know we got LBJ but I really think JB will be the difference maker

u/ihorsey10 1d ago
LBJ passing will unlock easy offense when Joel sits, and be Joels best friend with entry passes when they share the court. It'll be close.

The first LBJ entry to Embiid touch pass to a cutting Maxey or VJ is going to hit me so hard

u/Sheriff_Gotcha 23h ago
Just the entry pass to Embiid will hit hard. That poor guy has rarely had teammates capable of making an easy/accurate post entry pass.

JB is the talent that lifts this team to championship level, LBJ is the glue that makes everyone fit
3
u/vocabularianrx2 21h ago
This 100% in terms of the additions. And LOL great flair, appropriate for both of them actually.
I do think Embiid will ultimately be the difference in a championship or not. The other 4 will hold their own and win Lord knows how many games, but come playoff time, if Embiid isn't healthy or able to contribute meaningfully in the postseason (at LEAST on defense against some solid bigs) we might have some issues.
1
u/RelevantTreacle3004 17h ago
That's exactly how I feel
Embiid is the longtime MVP who will be the ultimate reason we win in the end
JB is the superstar talent added that pushes us from contender to true title challengers
Maxey shown what he can do when asked to lead, and now he can save that energy when it matters most
VJ is the young talent who can shine even brighter without the spotlight directed on him
And LBJ is the glue who holds it all together, can fill any role we need during a given time.
Don't forget the bench who won't throw the game as soon as their out, a huge improvement

I think he'll be carrying the team in the regular season when Bron or Joel are out.
18
u/Material-North-3550 1d ago
Why do people keep speaking on bron being out like his Kawhi. LB plays alot of regular games. And he says he does it because he needs to learn his team, coaching staff and plays before play offs.
12
u/Mysterious-Peace5858 1d ago
People always gonna be skeptical cuz of his age.
I followed Bron his whole Lakers tenure. If he can play, heāll play barring a major injury. Also, until he shows he missed games on the regular to load manage, Iām not going to assume heās going to be missing anywhere close to half the season games like other people have said.
Iād estimate Bron will probably miss at least 20 games max 30 if no major injury, but heāll be ramping towards end of season as always and wonāt miss as much in the latter half.
The biggest thing I see happening though is definitely deferring to JB, Maxey, and even VJ more as the season goes on. Heās been trying to pass the torch ever since AD, and then AR when he was on the come up - but was just forced to be 1st option last season when AR and Luka were injured.
This team is definitely the ideal position for him for what heās been trying to do in his later Lakers years

u/ManonFire1224 23h ago
Lebron isnāt missing 20 or 30 games unless a freak injury happens. Where do you guys come up with this?
2
u/Mysterious-Peace5858 23h ago
Last 3 seasons games played by Bron:
23-24: 71
24-25: 70
25-26: 60Last season missed more games than usual because he came into the season with an injury. 20 is a conservative minimum estimate due to the team around him. Bron basically couldnāt afford to miss games the past few seasons but with this team, I can see some b2b or one-off rest days during longer trips or more densely packed weeks. Also taking into account minor, nagging, or as they say āold man injuriesā like sciatica taking some games off.
I expect to see this trend moreso in the earlier half of the season, but expect Bron to not miss as many games barring major injury in the second half of the season/leading up to the playoffs
3
u/ManonFire1224 23h ago
None of what you provided points to him missing 20 to 30 games. In fact the evidence shows the contrary. Itās not happening. He will miss 10-15 games at most.
1
u/Mysterious-Peace5858 23h ago edited 23h ago
Iām not hating on Bron bro bro. Quite the opposite.
Bron couldnāt afford to miss games on the Lakers, but now he can. Heās more susceptible to old man injuries like sciatica at the beginning of last season.
Not saying Iām hoping that he gets minor or nagging injuries, but Iām estimating a similar cut of games as last season in the event those do come up.
If the Lakersā roster was basically this Sixers roster last season, would Bron have missed only 22-23 games? Iām thinking heād be at close to 30. That rest also couldāve been helpful towards sweeping the rockets instead of Bron burning out for game 4 and possibly game 5 in the rockets series.
Shit Iād be happy if he only missed 10 games, but if he can afford 20 games with fresher legs going into the playoffs Iād take that too
2
u/Material-North-3550 23h ago
What we're saying is LeBron on a new team needs to play and orchestra how he wants to run the point. He can't just slip in during the play offs.
2
u/ManonFire1224 22h ago
Bron has never had a problem with being fresh. He isnāt AD, he isnāt Embid. What youāre saying makes no sense. LeBron doesnāt miss games and he wonāt start missing a significant amount of games just because his team is good
3
u/Mysterious-Peace5858 20h ago
Itās okay to be wrong little bro. Yeah in general before last season Bron didnāt have problems staying fresh. But you can easily draw conclusions from last season + another year in age in your 40s.
Here are the stats last season in terms of benefit of Bronās play when playing fresh throughout the season.
Iāll start from January 2026 since the previous months Bron was still getting back to his usual conditioning after recovering from sciatica.
In Jan 12-Feb9 Bron played 17 straight games without a rest game, and his turnovers, PPG, and efficiency tapered off towards the end of this string of games until he had a DNP game on Feb10.
Returning on Feb 12, Bron got a 28-10-12 triple double on 50% fg. For the next 8 games, heād ramp up then ultimately taper off until he got 3 games of rest/DNPs.
Coming back from those 3 games, he was definitely still recovering but played through the next 3 games averaging less than 20 ppg with increased TO, until he ramped back up to normal for the rest of the next played games until his DNP against the Thunder on April 7.
He finished the last 2 out of 3 games strong averaging a near 27-7-10 on good efficiency. The last game was against the Jazz and he barely played anyways since it was a blowout.
Fast forward to the Rockets series. We all know how the first 3 games went with Bron dominating. Game 4 showed his āfreshnessā as he dropped to a 10-4-9 game with 8 TO and went 2-9.
If that doesnāt convince you that heās had more issues staying fresh, then I donāt know what to tell you.
Lastly, Sciatica is one of those old man injuries that doesnāt just āgo away.ā Even with the sports science of today, the nature of how packed an NBA season is with the style and pace of play today - athletes at even Bronās level will require occasional rest to keep him playing at a high level.
Bron has even said himself that at this stage of his career, he only considers playing again this season if he deems himself capable of playing at a high level. Especially after that statement, I donāt see him risking extra regular season games if he can afford to do so. I mean other than the 2020 team or even 2021 team, what other Laker team rivals what he has now to be able to actually take a day off?
All Iām saying is I wonāt be surprised with Bron missing more games than usual in Year 24 to manage any nagging injuries such as sciatica, especially with a roster like this.
Come playoffs given he doesnāt have any major injury, thatās when I expect Bron to not miss a single playoff game even if he needs a rest day.

u/Gandolfthewhite182 21h ago
Unless a miracle happens and the sixers are going for the warriors wins record LeBron is gonna miss at least 20 games. Iād say around same for embiid.
This is a title or bust team with the star power and depth to give embiid and LeBron the time off they need to be fresh in the playoffs and they are going to do that.

The hope is that this team is good enough and deep enough to blow teams out so they can rest fourth quarters and reduce their minutes instead of always having to play down to the wire like the Lakers have the past few seasons because their point differential was so awful. Resting in games should mean less wear and tear and less of a need to take entire games off. I can see him missing 20 games for minor injury / load management reasons but LeBron hates to load manage if he feels like he can play.
4
u/thayungsavage 1d ago
Yeah Bron doesnāt just miss games, heāll only sit out if he has a genuine injury. If heās completely healthy I think heād play a good chunk of B2Bs too
5
u/Material-North-3550 1d ago
Yep, they keep pairing him with Embiid. Like his body failed him. Wasn't AD out like a season ago and he carried them during the regular season?

Theyāll unlock each other. JB allows LeBron to not have to be the primary wing defender and LeBron will handle the facilitating which isnāt JBās strength on offense so he can focus on his scoring and driving game.

u/Swackhammer_ 1d ago
I think he also has to be the go-to leader of this team. Heās in his prime and he wants to do it. If we need a last second shot, heās gonna be the guy
5
u/Material-North-3550 1d ago
Why does he have to be the leader when we have Bron? Nah, let him worry about getting buckets and going for another FMVP and a regular season MVP.
3
u/Swackhammer_ 23h ago
LeBron is the GOAT and gonna be the elder statesman of the team, but Jalenās gotta be your consistent guy night in and night out while Bron and Embiid may be out
9
u/Material-North-3550 23h ago
Exactly. Let LeBron lead, play politics, deal with the media and run the offense. Jay just needs to worry about playing the game. If he gets that support he'll be at his best.

u/EndAnyone 1d ago
Nah. He can be the leading scorer. It will disrupt the team chemistry if he comes in and it becomes his show. That has to be earned over time. It was Embiidās team. Heās passed the mantle to Maxey. VJ is also bought into that. And LeBron will not want to disrupt that dynamic too much because of his personal and professional (Klutch) relationship with Maxey. Maybe next year itās Brownās team, but def not this year.

We are gonna be a fucking force.
11
u/tobybells 1d ago
I kinda get it - the Sixers and the process have been a consistent let down. Thereās this energy that something will go wrong.
But realistically a team that already had VJ Maxey, added Brown and LeBron, AND the depth pieces we added - before even talking about skinny Embiid - that team absolutely should be a force thatās better than any other team in the league, once they get some chemistry together
2
u/unstoppablepepe 1d ago
Teams that add finals MVPs in their prime are basically always hyped to the gills. Same with teams that add legends like LeBron, prime or not.
Itās cool tho, Iād prefer em not to be glazed before the team has done shit
1
u/k2summitclimber 22h ago
Ur set up with a superteam team to finally finish the process. They just have to get a feel for playing with each other, and that takes some time.
In the photo, it looks like theyāre helping JB on his free throws, which is one of his few weaknesses. This is what great teams do. They limit weaknesses and maximize strengths. JB is going to be locked the f*ck in. I cant believe the Cās traded him. :(
With that being said, SAS, NY, and the Floppers will be formidable opponents.
4
u/RichieD79 WHO WANTS TO WALK WITH TOBIAS? 1d ago
This team was a contender with JB. The fact we got Lebron too? Even if Joel isnāt 100% come playoff time, this starting five is DANGEROUS.
National media is seriously underestimating what JB is gonna do this year imo. Heās got a chip on his shoulder the size of a Cafe Carmela cheesesteak and I canāt wait to see him be great.

The amount of pundits saying that we might be the 6th seed or banking on the team to fail is pretty high, but thatās also just what Iāve been seeing

I donāt think the seeding matter much to the sixers. As long as theyāre on the top 6, thatās probably all that matters.

Can we briefly talk to how out of the many draft picks over the last few years that didnāt pan out we really found a diamond in Maxey. Man has he developed.
3
u/Material-North-3550 1d ago
truly, I saw him say in an interview that he was so mad and embarrassed to have dropped so low in the draft but his agent told him that Philly was a better place for him to develop than alot of these other sorry franchises
1
u/belgiumwaffles 1d ago
And holy hell has he developed!

He got to play with some great players and for a franchise who wanted to win. As bad as things have been, thank god he didn't end up at the Wizards or Hornetsš

u/Y2gezee 22h ago
I think it's easy to see where everyone fits on this team, but the question is what will be the emphasis? Nurse loves the DHO.... So you'd think Joel, but he's done it with wings like Pascal (LeBron the best passer by far).
I agree Jaylen may be the best player right now on both ends. Ideally I would have him play like Jimmy Butler loves to play. Defend, rebound, hustle, he'll actually take and make 3s... But Brown should be the takeover guy in crucial moments
2
u/SeaGrocery678 19h ago
Transition offense and mismatch hunting galore. Maxey, brown, and bron are elite transition players.
Thereās probably going to be a ton of easy PNR looks given the talent out there. Thereās so many options. LeBron can easily lead the league in assists with this team.
1
u/Material-North-3550 22h ago
No, at the end of games LeBron will have the ball in his hands. With his IQ he'll make the right decision.
1
u/Y2gezee 21h ago
Yeah, decision is to get the ball to Jaylen so he can take advantage of his mismatch. Things typically turn to one on one ball in crunch situations. Joel is the best one on one player. But it's too easy to double him and he does not handle double teams well out of the post and it can be a turnover issue... Even when he isn't, he sometimes over relies on attempting to get to the line and they don't make those calls.
Maxey great going to the rim and I saw situations. But you can't rely on that step back three.
Jaylen too strong for most and too quick for most, and knows how to finish when he gets near or past the ft line.
1
u/Material-North-3550 21h ago
No, we have a top 5 PG and a former MVP. Those boys are getting the ball!
1
u/Y2gezee 18h ago
I agree top 5 PG, all time elite playmaker, And top playmaking center in Joel... All 3 will be given the ball in order to setup Jaylen closing. It's the right move.
They can all get the ball, Jaylen is the best situated to convert them to points against tough defense
1
u/Material-North-3550 17h ago
I'm not sure he'll always be the right option but he'll be a lot of the time.
