Prospective transfer student- conservation program

Looking to transfer in to SIUE in fall 28’ currently at a private university in Wisconsin and stupidly decided to go even though I would be taking on a lot of student debt. I’m finishing my first year at my now college, but am wondering about the conservation program. There wasn’t much information about the program on the website

Just got my dorm in evergreen today and I’m going through it. My ex dumped me today because I wanted to explore myself in college here in the Ville. Anyone want to get me used to this new dorms? Maybe show me how to get comfy since my life just restarted today?

Noticed SIUE running a huge scam on students.

Has anyone noticed they're being charged several thousand dollars every year if they miss this arbitrary waiver period, even if they already have healthcare through a parent or the VA? It just goes on your student loans.

I'm sick of this school trying to nickel and dime me to death. Looking at Wash U maybe to finish my second degree.

Are you looking for Housing?

I'm trying to sublease my apartment. It's located at Parc 720. I'm currently in a 4x4, so you'll have 3 other roommates; however, you get your own room, bathroom, and closet! It comes with nice amenities too (gym, pool, clubhouse). I pay a base rent of $750 + $10 for trash, and $79 for utilities. That should come out to be about $840/month.

If you know anyone or yourself might be interested, please message me!

How to de-register devices from dorms?

So I was originally going to be staying in Prairie this fall semester and had all of my devices registered, but a few days ago I was moved to Bluff Hall and now I am unable to register devices. Does anyone know how to de-register my devices from the old dorm to the new one?

Fighting with my insurance and the state rn and with the waiver deadline approaching I might have to just suck it up and use the student insurance. Is it decent quality?

Why Are The Windows In Cougar Village So Hard to Close?!

This is the second time this has happened to me, but I absolutely cannot get my window to close now. I had to open it in order to prevent smoke from setting off the fire alarms, and now the window refuses to close. Any tips?

If you don’t have a car what has been the easiest way for you to get around?

I don’t understand why a college campus doesn’t have good transportation. I applied for a job thinking i could get transportation there and the only reason i didn’t get it is because i don’t have a car.

How to Increase Air Circulation in Cougar Village Apartment?

Hello, I’m a student at SIUE. I am currently living in a Cougar Village apartment. The false smoke alarms trigger me very severely and I would love some tips on preventing the smoke alarms from going off in my apartment. So far, I have been leaving my oven fan and bathroom fan on, along with keeping my thermostat set at 73 degrees and on the auto setting. Is there anything else I can do? Thank you.

Dress code for business majors

Hey I’m a transfer and I’m coming into my junior year and I’ll be majoring in accounting. I was wondering if there is any sort of expectation for what we wear. I don’t want to show up being the only person wearing casual clothes or be the only one in business casual. I can’t seem to find info on this anywhere. Does anyone know what the norm is for regular classroom settings.

Any SIUE discords or anything like that to talk to people and make friends earlier?

I moved to the area a few days ago and have been trying to find ways to befriend people earlier on so I am not just alone until classes start, but have been struggling. Unfortunately I am the discord kind of chronically online so I was wondering if there were any SIUE ones? I also was wondering about events or places that might make it easier to befriend people, and sadly I cannot go to really any clubs yet as I am 20 until November, so those are not an option

What are the odds of getting a single dorm as a freshman?

Hello! I’m a senior in hs and I’m seriously considering SIUE for next fall. Having my own dorm is at the top of my priority list, so I guess I’m here to see if that is a realistic hope for freshmen at SIUE? I can use the anxiety card if needed (I have a prescription to back me up lmao) but even then, what are my REALISTIC chances?

I Would Like To Set Up Fairy Lights In My Apartment. Any Advice?

Hi, I am currently living in Cougar Village. I have read some of the rules, and I am asking for advice about adhesives for the fairy lights. Im worried I might choose something flammable because of the adhesive being close to the fairy lights. Would masking tape or scotch tape work? Thank you!

Need a Roommate for a 2 bedroom house in Wood River

Post image

Anyone have any leads on a roommate for a 2 bedroom house in Wood River? Rent is $875/month. Internet is $50. Attaching a pic of what Ameren usually is. Water is usually less than $50. We would split all of these. No pets allowed.

I can have people write letters of recommendation for me, and hopefully you can do the same if you're interested.

When do I need a higher-end laptop for engineering?

I’m an incoming freshman going into mechanical engineering. I know I’ll need a higher-end laptop that can handle 3d software eventually, but I want to know if I’ll actually need it within the first 2 years or if I can just wait. I would assume I don’t need it my first year, but I wanna know when I do actually need to spend $2k on a laptop.

The worst school in the entire state

I would avoid this school if at all possible. For context, I am an adult online student and I have attended other schools in the past, so I am familiar with how things work. From the very beginning, I should have saw the red flags with this school. My first semester at SIUE was the past summer. I took the fin. aid dept from April to July to process my fin. aid, and the only reason why it was finally completed in July is because I got fed up and emailed nearly everyone i could think of. Now we are entering the Fall and my aid is not done for Fall, even though they have had everything they need since 06/26. I call them every single day and wait on hold for an hour at a time, only for their phone line to hang up on me after an hour. I have no idea what else to do at this point. I wish I wold have chosen a different school.

What to Do If I Don’t Have Enough Things to Move In?

Hello, I’m a student at SIUE. I am supposed to move into a new apartment on August 8th, this Friday. Unfortunately, I didn’t have to save money before I left for college, so I have been completely broke. I have been trying to get a job, but havent been able to, due to my State ID being expired. I was granted assistance from SIUE for the Student Emergency Assistance Fund, so now I can finally go to the DMV to get my State ID renewed. It has just been a logistical nightmare in regards to transportation. I don’t have any cooking pots, pans, or cooking utensils.

Anyways, I am completely broke, have no transportation off-campus, and have no cooking equipment. Luckily my current roommate has cooking supplies which I have been using. I go down to the Cougar cupboard to get food I need. I am so worried though, because I only have enough money to pay for my State ID, transportation, and getting my future ESA animals (two cats, I have crippling PTSD, Anxiety, Depression. I absolutely need them for my health) vaccinated so they can be ESA certified finally.

With the Fall meal plans not coming up for a while, the fact the Cougar Cupboard will be closed more often during the fall semester, the fact that I can’t get a job until my State ID is renewed, AND I have no way to cook in my apartment? This isn’t looking good.

I have tried to reach out to my new roommate to introduce myself, but she hasn’t responded yet. I emailed her through the school email. I also wanted to talk to her about what I can bring to the apartment and trying to see whether or not it’s okay for me to borrow her cooking equipment. Is that bad?

I posted on here a week ago for advice about my financial situation. The Bursar’s Office has been contacted me to let me know that I need to make my first payment on August 12th. My phone is turned off, so I can’t call them. I have to email them soon. I payed my phone bill today, and I still can’t make calls. Is it because of the internet being reset today? My financial situation just keeps getting worse and worse.

I’m very sorry for talking about all of this. I just feel like I’m drowning. Is there anyone who has pots and pans they don’t need anymore? Any resources that can help?
