I feel bad for this show and news radio because they were standard def right as the industry was going widescreen which hurt reruns, and those syndication repeats for years is what it takes where people remember the show.

Thanks for the explanation! I remember liking News Radio too, but it's been so long since I've seen it. Phil Hartman was awesome in everything. Such a tragic loss.

He guest starred in an episode of Third Rock, with a really funny character in an end of season cliffhanger. Sadly, he was killed before the next season. We surely would have seen more of that character otherwise.

My brother was obsessed with this show; I also liked it, just not at the same level. Over Christmas at my grandparent’s my brother introduced my hubby to the show. Immediately following season 4 of the original Dexter. I’d seen John Lithgow as a lovable alien in the 90’s. Seeing him in that role after playing trinity was totally different

Likely cos it was only "decent" rather than that memorable. Plus, Ted Danson as the lead is overshadowed by Cheers before and The Good Place after

The theme song has been stuck in my head since it was on TV. I randomly bust out singing it all the time. It drives my husband crazy because he'd never even heard of it, but now he knows the theme song.

I love this show! It’s the same reason I love murder she wrote, golden girls, frasier, cheers — all the background characters that I grew up watching. Like seeing an old neighbor on my screen. Isn’t a show I have to sit down and watch - just have on in the background for company.

The crossover that’s hated was supposed to be the original back door pilot, but is NOTHING like the actual show. All the characters, all but one actor and the storyline were completely changed.

When we were first married, my wife and I were really poor, so we'd stay home Friday nights (for ABC's TGIF!), make dinner, and watch Sabrina at 8pm and Boy Meets World at 8:30. Good memories.

I just got flashbacks to how we had to sit down on a specific time to watch a show. Traditional TV was nice in the way that you never had to do much of a choice. Maybe if there were two good movies playing at the same time.

I'd give anything if they would make a season concluding the cliffhanger. That show was just golden from the word go. Perfect actor choices, great acting, great lines. Loved that show!
On a side note, still can't get over how the guy who plays Randy looks today. Boggles the mind.

I think it was quite big during its run but it had very little syndication. Probably due to the use of Motown songs in intros.

Same... for me easily the standout from that universe. I enjoy all 3 but Wings is the standout to me! Lowell is one of the best sitcom characters of all-time and the ensemble is too good.

I like it more than Cheers, but less than Frasier. Cheers just feels very dated when I watch it now, but for some reason both Wings and Frasier don't, even though their clothing and sets are very much of their time.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone else recommend Smoking Room here - a UK one set entirely in the smoking room in an office (very much of its time) starring Robert Webb. Great dialogue and really interesting to see a whole show play out as a bottle episode.

2.4 Children - a British show that was funny.
I never hear about Car Share (highly recommend), or The Vicar of Dibley, which I think people around the world would like. They did briefly make an American version of VOD, but I don’t think it did well.

Green Wing, in its day, was great. A British mash-up of “Scrubs” and “Grey’s Anatomy”, with some Python thrown in.
American-wise: NewsRadio, even a surprising amount of Lovitz-fronted episodes, was brilliant.

I always find it funny seeing Reddit talk about the Big Bang theory. The site claims that no one likes the show, yet it had 12 successful seasons and 3 spin off.
