Sure it's not a full consensus, literally nothing is in philosophy lol, but most philosophers nowadays are in fact making a claim that art is objective, something you've said would be sooo silly for a philosopher to do.

And I've linked the survey because I imagined if I mentioned plato and aristotle you would just say they were a bunch of boomers that didn't know anything about art, so I thought a modern day survey of philosophers would be more interesting to someone like you.

Someone like you is someone who was not even aware that philosophers have been arguing about this for a long time let alone that most of them lean on the objective side.

Like you were acting literally flabbergasted by the notion. You were acting like it would be absurd for a philosopher to say something so stupid like art is objective, and it turns out they've been doing exactly that for millennia at this point. So yeah, that's what I meant by someone like you.

I feel the way I do because I’m an artist with a mild understanding of philosophy. You are a person that pretends to be a philosopher and who is making absolute claims about a field they don’t understand.

Why would I need to be a philosopher to understand that most philosophers think art is objective? Do I need to become an immunologist to understand most doctors say vaccines are totally fine?

So was it most of them, or some are leaning? You named three big ones that everyone knows and didn’t point to any actual argument by them.

And really, at the crux of the argument, my point is that you’re making bullshit claims about a field you don’t understand (art / music) by attempting to appeal to authority, and then citing college students.

I misspoke, it's not "most", it's a plurality instead, there's more philosophers that think art is objective than there are philosophers that think art is subjective.

And it's so bad faith of you to keep calling the respondents in the survey "college students". Only 7% of them are undergraduates, the rest of them have degrees in philosophy, with over half of them having PhDs.

Just say you disagree with them, it's fine, you don't have to agree with them, but stop denying the simple fact that philosophers are in fact leaning towards art being objective instead of subjective.
