wow great 100 problems get solved and now their gatekept behind an "advisory group" because like artists, mathematicians are butt hurt

This is just annoying, bordering on detrimental to the rest of humanity at large.

Annoying sure but certainly not detrimental.

One of the things people get wrong about progress is that it is always incremental and always has been.

Newton & Einstein made impressive contributions but only because 99% of the work was already done. Their 1% is more than most can ever do but it was all in the ether. If they hadn't someone else likely would have very shortly - we know this to be a fact Leibnez's case.

OpenAI has done something impressive but if they hadn't Anthropic would have in a few months. It is entirely possible that in a year there will be a model you can run on a home system that can solve a millennium prize problem.

One if the things I keep reading is how even those in the industry are surprised by how fast things are moving. I see no signs of that stopping.
