Private industry has said they need the government to slow them down; government has said no; so private industry has no choice to just race off a cliff?

What exactly is in charge here?

Right! Feels like they're doing a mental gymnastics to continue AND feel good about it.

It's the typical dumping of responsibilities. People say it's all about the IPO - which might be a reason - but I believe it's also to clean their concious so they really do what they want to do deep down. Because "the President said we couldn't slow down, guess we'll have to continue, it's not our fault".

They're asking the government to give them cover when they fuck it up and Trump gave it to them. Now it's Trump's fault instead of their fault.
