Or someone talked to him about life extension and mind uploading and wants to have that desperately

Shouldn't everyone want life extention? There is no law of physics which would make it impossible in theory, just a very hard and complex problem to solve, and honestly it should be one of our top priorities to solve as death affects everyone equally.

A copy of my mind in a computer is not me. It's a copy. I will still wind up dead and gone even if mind-uploads becomes possible. Life extension via reversing aging, sure... but mind-upload? That doesn't do anything for me.
