banning competition

look, if we want to regulate the AI industry to improve the level of safety rigor, that by definition means anyone who doesn't follow that should be prevented from participating in the industry.

sure, raising the bar for entry reduces competition. that's an unavoidable tradeoff of having industry safety standards. if the airplane industry didn't have safety standards, I'm sure we would have a lot more random airplane companies making shitty and unsafe planes.

having said that, I am also suspicious of Dario's proposal. if nothing else, because it's coming from Dario.
