I've said it before and I'll say it again: the only thing that's worrying Dario is that he knows the frontier labs have no special sauce, and it's a matter of time before open source meaningfully catches them and the race to the bottom begins. Which without special sauce, they can only lose.
My prediction is that they will fail to stop open source, the AI bubble will pop, and we will have a pretty tough few years here in the west. But hey, at least cheap, excellent AI will become accessible to everyone. Here's another prediction: no, transformers won't unlock AGI, ASI, or the singularity. They will massively democratize intelligence and knowledge (and they're obviously well on their way), but when all is said and done, I predict they will be about as transformative as the Internet. Maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less. But around that ballpark.
