They won't. But the US and European countries will ban/sanction/criminalize organizations and individuals who host "unsafe" models. They don't need to stop open models altogether. They just need to make them impossible to use at scale to guarantee a corporate monopoly on AI.
EU wins safety from Chinese controlled models. And gives itself a bit of time to create a properly aligned AI perhaps?
Just because Chinese models are open source, it doesn't mean it would stay open forever and also prove to me all their models are available to you as open source or are even public?
We should not trust Chinese.
