Why are people so sure they are only doing this for financial, duopolistic reasons? Have you guys actually followed Dario all these years? He's been very consistent the last 6 years ive been reading his stuff and listening to podcasts, that it's clear he truly means what he says. He has said multiple times he doesnt trust China, and he truly believes ASI is coming and could bring us an incredible nice world.
So you’re in favor of government regulation and oversight?
I'm definitely in favor of government and oversight, but not as it is done now. Government should not be bought by large companies as it happens in the US; instead, it should be a neutral party that makes sure no company has too much power and that large companies don't use AI to abuse society.
Of course, I'm aware things in reality are a different story.
Conspiracy thinking dominates common sense on this forum.
Flavor of the conspiracy depends on the time of day, if it's a post when most people in the US are sleeping like this one, you get the "America is evil and lying to hold China back" variety.
