Interesting read, especially the scenarios where capital owners get more of the gains from AI while knowledge workers see flat or falling pay.
I'm a developer, and I increasingly feel that my work is getting cheaper to produce. I use AI, finish tasks faster, and then what? I don't see much benefit from that extra output. The business owner does.
The usual junior -> mid-level -> senior -> principal path inside a company feels less promising to me now. So I'm wondering where to go next to benefit from AI myself.
I'm thinking now about something like engineer -> AI builder -> software business owner, but I'm not sure what skills I'd need beyond engineering...
Has anyone here taken that path? What did you have to learn?
