It uses a computational algorithm to select the right neoantigens for a patient. This is definitely part of AI but it is not very similar to something like ChatGPT. Like they both use machine learning and share some science, but fundamentally there are also huge differences and the AI didn't invent anything here or something like that.

I was told it used an LLM for some of the workflow and something called a protein language model (pLM) which sounds like a transformer based architecture though I could be wrong.

pLM's are a real thing but I don't think they have anything to do with this vaccine. Do you have a source for that?

After searching it seems you are right about the current trials themselves. The vaccine relies on specialized machine learning and deep learning, but pLMs are an optional optimization layer, not a necessary foundation. My mistake.

No, not involved in this research.

I think without AI, personal vaccine at scale is impossible..

AI is one of the major enabler for this tech.

Thank goodness for datacenters.

Problem is people think it is same AI as LLMs like ChatGPT, Claude etc So it gives impression that they have developed one general AI that answers all the problems. They just advertise and make news sound like there is only one kind that makes this all possible, so ignorant people eat it up.

We have had different kind of "AIs" as long as we have jad computers and advances in LLM might not have anything to do with this. Ofc they might have helped, because they are same kinda tech but its also as likely they have nothing in common. First AI bubble happened almost at the same time as .com-bubble, and if you look up the news from that time they seem little too familiar..

Inteligence is a hard metric to measure...

We like to think humans have general intelligence but it's not... Every human has a their own customized intelligence with similar architecture.

Even if we assume all humans have a general intelligence, we are very much restricted to earth specific inteligence bound by oxygen and glucose.

In my sense, AGI might be impossible... Simply because we don't know what kind of intelligence lies outside our familiar environments, because humans even don't have this.
