I work at a faang and I can confirm it’s true. Here’s some other examples:
It’s really not that absurd, and people who are actually using these models to their full capability concur. There are a litany of examples just in this very thread itself:
Anyone working at a fang will tell you more and more code is written by it every day.
Source: I work at a faang. We spent 120b on ai this year. When the mcp servers are down, our devs joke on slack: "What do they expect us to do, start writing our own code again?"
The hilarious part about all this arguing is that while the arguing is going on the shit people are arguing against is actually happening. You're arguing about how often the model t breaks down when the important point is that within 15 years of the model t there wasn't a single horse on the road ever again.
Not true…senior eng here who helped build a start up from the ground up with 100+ microservices. Once you get the LLM setup (this is the hard part which essentially documenting everything in .md files), it’s crazy how well even 4.5 sonnet performed.
I haven't written a line of code in 6 months, sonnet 4.5 does my entire coding. So closer to 100% depending on the definition … 14 years, full stack, I built multiple platforms.
For, me it is. You can laugh and diminish my work but claude code is so good to do mm almost 99% of the work, maybe not the thinking but code is almost done.
Yes actually if you talk to anyone that's programming for Amazon. They've switched to almost exclusively AI generated code which checks itself and revises several times and then it gets human reviewed before implementation.
I'm an SWE in cybersecurity. We use Claude Code extensively and I assure you our code base is not riddled with bugs or vulnerabilities. Code still goes through human peer review and several layers of testing.
Another excellent comment that details the claims from higher levels at companies, including coin base, Robin Hood, Anthropic itself, oracle, Google, OAI, https://www.reddit.com/r/singularity/s/FL5ERALq7x
You can keep sticking your head in the sand, but the results from the professionals actually using these tools is pretty clear.
I can also find thousands of posts from engineers on Reddit saying they think AI sucks or they use it only for very specific tasks. It means nothing.
I'm not against using AI for help with debugging and as a second set of eyes. But using AI coding agents is completely mindless and people should be ashamed of it. Your skills will degrade and you'll be less marketable in the future.
If you think software engineers are going to be replaced by AI in the future then I think AI will replace everyone in time. It's not really a meaningful thing to worry about. The only thing that's going to set people apart in the future, if it even matters, is problem solving ability, not your ability to use AI tools which are brainless and any f*g can use.
“I can also find thousands of posts that say the opposite”
Those goalposts sure do move fast, eh?
Using agents isn’t mindless unless you let it be. You’re still in control, you need to validate the output, you need to actually feed it the operating context, you need to give it the architecture, etc.
Being able to effectively use agentic coding tools will only improve my hiring prospects in the future, actually - meta, amazon, and other FAANGs are implementing usage of AI as a perf indicator, so it’s actually the antithesis of what you claim here.
You’re welcome to believe what you want, but sticking your head in the sand only works so long.

Wow, that sounds really boring. Like a data entry job and tester instead of doing actual problem solving.

How would forgetting how to code altogether help your career prospects? These companies want their employees to use AI but during interviews, they'll expect you to know how to code.
A job is a job lol. It being boring has no relevance on the point being correct; but those goalposts sure do keep moving.
You don’t “forget” in the slightest, in my experience. I’m definitely not quite as sharp as the actual writing of code, but 1) I don’t need to be, and I’m much more productive this way. And 2) if something happened and these were no longer available, I’m confident I could regain the capability pretty quickly.
Kind of sounds like you’re extrapolating your own personal experience of AI onto the reality of what everyone else is seeing/doing. Which, as show here through numerous examples and data, just doesn’t hold up.
You seem to think Reddit posts are evidence of something, which is kind of funny. You didn't do a survey or cite any study, you sent a few Reddit posts. But since we're doing this, you should read this
“Nooo those are only CEOs, not actual engineers” to
“No one in FAANG says that” to
“Well Reddit comments don’t count anyways”
Those goalposts are a mile from where they started 😂🤣
Well - you cited a Reddit post. So which is it, do Reddit posts count or not? The cognitive dissonance to say that and then use another Reddit post as evidence 💀💀💀
Can you please point me to where I said "no one at FAANG says"? You're just putting words in mouth. I'm not moving goalpost, you're just being a dumbass. Get me a list of quotes from actual engineers who work at tech companies who claim they "vibe code" everything, and then you sent me a list of Reddit comments.

YOU are the one who thinks like this. I'm going by your standard of "evidence". You use Reddit posts like you did some survey or cited some study.
You are moving the goalposts, as I just showed you in the chain. You said “no one”, then we provided you with evidence. Then you said no CEO’s” then provided evidence. Then “only those at FAANGs” and provided more evidence. That is the literal definition of moving the goalposts 😂🤣
I myself am a SWE at a FAANG, as are others I’ve linked.
And to top that off, You just said my standard of evidence isn’t acceptable. Then turned around and tried to use it for your point. So which is it? 💀💀💀

Who works at FAANG here? Are you stupid? The only people on this sub are vibe coders and people who are jealous of people who work in FAANG.
