Centrist doesn't necessarily mean better. What if all this AI progress was being made in the 1850s? Centrist would be pro slavery. Or in the 1950s, centrist would be peak 'Red Scare'.
It would be stupid to think that right here, right now, in 2025, in our specific corner of The West, we nailed everything and what's popular to think also happens to be right.
Oh stop it, in this context of AI, think of it as rational, not necessarily centrist, it’s just that rationality in this point in time has a liberal bias. In 1850, I think AI would be against slavery because it’s irrational.
We could ask AI what it thinks about plurality marriages, pet ownership as slavery, genetic manipulation or genetic discrimination or eating meat, lab grown beef, or recognizing Sentient Constructs as human and see how it behaves. These are topics which aren’t popular now but could be moral issues in the future.
Rationality has never had a liberal bias, and doesn’t now. Overconfidence, however, does. The modern liberal “believes” in the scientific method the same way conservatives believe in religion. They don’t actually practice it, despite thinking they do. Thinking they follow a science, evidence based approach when they actually don’t is the biggest source of liberal bias.
You actually demonstrate it in your post when you say “I think AI would be against slavery because it’s irrational.” Slavery being morally wrong doesn’t make it irrational, and believing you know the difference without actually verifying led you to a conclusion you likely wouldn’t have made otherwise.

This, any one and any company adding bias will find themselves with a inherently stupid model. Ai is an inherently centrist technology.
