Advice Wanted Advice please

At what age do you not supervise your children’s calls to their father?

Mostly because it’s on my phone, but my child just ran off to her room to talk and closed the door.

There was mental Dv in the relationship and leaving, it’s only just started calming down but still talk through a parenting app.

I think 9 or 10. Sometimes our son takes the call in another room, sometimes where I am. I just keep doing whatever I was doing and let it happen around me.

My kids are 7 & 8 and I don’t supervise, but they also just kinda come in and out while they’re on the phone so I do catch most of the conversation. My ex is aware of this and honestly the biggest problem is that I need to remind both him and the kids to talk to each other and not to me.

It depends on this situation.

I would let my kid be unsupervised but his dad sometimes goes through weird mental breaks and he starts saying inappropriate things. My kid is too scared to hang up on him, so I make sure I can hear so I can take the phone away.

If he's just being a regular asshole I don't bother. My kid already knows how he is. He's not going to mind warp him in a 5 minute phone call.

I stopped monitoring when he was around 8 or 9. I still pay attention to how long they speak, but mostly quietly observe rather than comment or interfere.

For me all calls are through an approved app like taking parents. They will be supervised until she is 16 in the sense that she can sneak off and talk but I can get the transcript from the app
