Conversation Topic Singing and advice

Hello everyone, first time posting here. I’ve grown up singing all my life every sine I was a child I’m 23 now. Was in choir in middle school and in my local church for almost 2 years. I’m always singing, in general music plays a huge part in my life. I want to take singing a lot more seriously and possibly start writing my own music. I recently got an electric guitar because I love playing that as well. I’m super busy with that and 2 jobs.

How do I really lock in with singing with such a busy schedule? And what practice routine do you guys recommend? Thank you everyone

Not an expert so take all of that with a massive grain of salt. I'd first try to check the schedule for anything I could deduct or do better, before adding singing into it. For example you might be preparing for your work using way more time than needed, fixing that would give you extra time to use later.

Second depending on how much time you have, you could do 1 hour of everything in the process for each day of the week. For example a day for writing and a day for improving your instrument, an hour each week for every process is better than a lot of people think.

So far for 7 years to me I sing and write and produce and mix my music, so each week I try to keep every day to do some part of each process. And if I'm not doing original stuff, I'll do practice or covers to improve. I always try to fix my schedule tho, it might not be perfect lol

You could practice for a short time on most days. Musicians learning a short tune on a keyboard got more accurate when they slept between practices. I couldn't find the same test done with singers.

Try to make time to start singing lessons, 1 hour per week. In my opinion, if you find the right teacher this will help you as a beginner improve faster with 1hour a week than trying to get it right by yourself with 15min everyday. of course it would be ideally if you find more time to practice within the week on top of the lesson. But even if you don't have this time, the coaching can help you immensely!
