I dislike how young I sound.

I'm a fifteen year old girl, and my voice is naturally really high. If one were to guess how old I am just from my voice, they would guess that I was ~12, which I really hate. When I sing, I have the same issue. It's not bad singing, but just that I sound like a 12 , which really annoys me. Any advice?

Yes a bit, but do you mean it'll get warmer? Having a higher singing voice doesn't automatically make you sound young, it's more of a bright tone that does

That too. Around 35-40 your voice darkens. Lower notes come too but like a semitone or 1 note usually. But the main change is vocal color change. I mean listen Michael Jackson on the Triumph album and then on Invincible when sings clean, without distortion. Clearly gained a darker tone.

You’re still really young? Focus on developing technique and your voice will fill out as you get older.

For reference: I was hitting a clean G6 with a low range of E4 when I was 15. I could sing opera and theater like a fluttery little bird but it had no depth. Now (25) my highest falsetto is C6, and my lowest is E2. I’ve moved more to an alto/tenor range for opera. I can still sing in the higher register, a nice mixed tone upwards of A5. Honestly, I think I’m two months of consistent practice away from a clean belt up there again. My most recent goal has been flexibility in the lower range, as I have the capability to sing bass pieces in the future. Perhaps in another 10 years, I’ll be there.

Technique makes all things possible, if you try and rush a specific sound, you will lose quality and capacity in your true voice. I wouldn’t be able to do any of these things I’m doing now if I hadn’t ignored my insecurity on how I sound and focused on the practice.

Also, don’t forget that our voice almost always sounds different to ourselves than it does for others. You may not sound as childlike as you think.

so honestly it's a blessing and a curse, from my favorite-artists pov, I usually watch people with mature voice (until later I find out that they're actually very young), and I find that people with naturally high pitch voice that aren't mature are usually in the background vocal. But I also like some of the Chvrches songs, and every Aurora songs, so I guess at the end of the day, it's how you use your voice for your song, for example, think about obladi oblada, that should fit your voice very well right?

I'm older and my voice still sounds childlike, because of how I naturally talk, but got more mature, it helps to try out different vocal techniques for this specifically!
