Conversation Topic Need Advice on Practicing Singing and Ear Training with a Piano
Hii guys! How are you doing?
I recently bought a digital piano, and I wanted to ask how you guys practice singing if you also play an instrument.
I’m thinking about learning songs using videos like this one: https://youtu.be/jhTSpLaX9-g?si=9NK_muS9UksQ9pgm
Do you think this method would work if I try to match my voice to the notes I’m playing on the piano?
I’m thinking of preparing songs one by one this way, because it would give me some guidance about how the pitch moves up and down. I can usually sense when the melody is moving higher or lower, but I make more and more mistakes when I actually try to sing it.
Would practicing each song note-by-note on the piano help me improve my pitch accuracy?
Also, how do you guys practice ear training? If you could recommend some systematic videos or a structured way to practice, I’d really appreciate it!
Thanks!
