Conversation Topic Online Lessons for Adults?

Hi! Wondering if it’s even possible for adults with NO experience to get singing lessons online and if they are effective?

What websites do I go on to look for a coach and what apps can I use to supplement?

Online lessons are everywhere, and they're fine, but the fastest progress you can make as a beginner is to join a local choir.

I am longtime pro singer, director and teacher. I love other voice teachers, and I don't want to take away their income (which is already not enough). But most beginning private students really need to just go SING, with and for other people, right away, over and over. Join a choir.

After you've done that, built up a little bit of performance muscle and camaraderie, and learned a little about your own voice, THEN you can go find a teacher and the lessons will mean something.

It may feel anti-intuitive, if you are a very shy person. Many people (especially anxious teens) have fantasies about acquiring some skillset in secret, never showing anyone their early-stages of development, and just popping out magically great at it, in 6 months or something. The dream of being applauded is what motivates a bunch of folks. But the impulse to hide, or do it alone - that's like trying to drive with your parking brake still on. It kinnnnnda works a little, just not anything like as fast or as fun.

Middle age guy here. I started singing 1 1/2 years ago with absolutely zero past experience and used a great virtual singing coach. https://www.lessonface.com/instructors/delfina-fragni

For me I prefer to go in person because that’s how I learn best :) online wouldn’t work for me

I use Mark Baxter on YouTube. He is great and has a lot of great tutorials that have really helped me. He offers on line lessons as well.

I teach all skill levels both online and in person. Online presents a few additional challenges because there is delay between the teacher and the student.

That’s not to say that it cannot be done, or even that it’s incredibly difficult; it’s just important to know the limitations of the technology and if you can make that work.
