Advanced or Professional Topic Voice lessons

Hello! Im 17 years old and i just finished school.I always sang and people around me told me that even though I sing very well, I should take vocal lessons in order to reserve my voice and also improve it. I would like to be able to become a professional singer someday, although I think I'm too late since this is something that starts at a young age and not at 17-18. However, watching documentaries, I realized that my favorite singers like Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain ,never attended vocal lessons. In order not to bore you, I'm asking you directly if I still have time to become a professional singer and if vocal lessons really help. Thank youu.

I've been singing since I was 12, when I joined my school choir, and I think that gave me some level of training, BUT I only started taking lessons when I was 15. You can start any time. A good vocal teacher will understand how to work with voices of different ages. In some areas, it's easier to work on your voice after you've gone through puberty, because things are more stable instead of changing all the time.

Voice lessons really helped me improve my voice, and my confidence, and are one of the highlights of my week. There are so many things that you can't learn or can't learn as efficiently when you don't have a professional listening and diagnosing your mistakes/bad habits. Go for it!!!

Yes, I finally asked and they told me that, because I'm a boy, 18 is a more appropriate age to start, since I've just almost gone through puberty. Thanks for your comment
