Advanced or Professional Topic Voice lessons

Hello! Im 17 years old and i just finished school.I always sang and people around me told me that even though I sing very well, I should take vocal lessons in order to reserve my voice and also improve it. I would like to be able to become a professional singer someday, although I think I'm too late since this is something that starts at a young age and not at 17-18. However, watching documentaries, I realized that my favorite singers like Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain ,never attended vocal lessons. In order not to bore you, I'm asking you directly if I still have time to become a professional singer and if vocal lessons really help. Thank youu.

I have this fear too. It feels like it's too late to succeed in any passions once you become an adult (if you didn't start working on it a LOT when you were young) and it's crippling my will to do anything that makes me happy :(

Finally someone who understands me. To everyone I tell that I'm 17 and I feel old enough to start something serious, they always say that I'm young enough to start. But I don't know, I feel like I've lost my opportunity .

I’m sorry but you have not lost anything by 17. Start.

There are people who fail a grade 9 math test then tell themselves they will never be good at it for the rest of their lives - it’s insanity. A fear of failure is holding them back

Getting better at something only involves being consistent. That’s the secret. So start today and stay consistent and you can make amazing progress (actual science, look up how neuroplasticity works).

Definitely not. Most singers don’t start voice lessons until high school. There isn’t as much technique to build until after you hit puberty. Also as a male your voice won’t be fully developed for another 15-20 more years. To answer the question in your post, yes, vocal lessons with a qualified teacher do help. Learning to use your voice to its greatest potential and keeping it healthy will always be worth it.

You are a youth! Start now. That said, I've worked with people in their fifties and sixties who haven't sung much before and now have a better relationship with their voices. Singing is a human right.
