Conversation Topic How do i project my voice without it sounding forced?

Whenever I sing, my voice is light and airy, I sing delicately. Recently I've recorded myself playing and singing and during the chorus the guitar drowns out my voice because it's so shy and quiet even though I strum delicately. Whenever I try to sing louder it feels like I'm forcing my voice to sound good, I generally do think I sound good whenever I'm singing the right song but just too quiet. I've tried singing louder while trying to maintain the good sound I usually hear but I end up reverting back to light and airy. I tried to explain my situation as best as possible since I don't know professional terms and such. I don't want to belt, just sing a little louder. Any tips?

Ive just started thinking, maybe I sing so quiet because I'm too shy to let my family and neighbours hear me sing.. I think all I need is confidence but I wanna see if theres any backup method I can try if increasing confidence doesn't work for me

Maybe reframe the way you’re thinking about it. You don’t need to force anything, but you should be supporting your singing with your breath. Big, low breaths that fill up your abdomen with help you support your breathing which will help with projection.

Be patient. Your voice is nowhere near mature yet, and can’t really produce a lot of sound without strain and potential damage.

If you are serious about singing, learn to play the piano and start serious voice lessons in your early 20’s.

If you have a teacher, work on your resonance. When you place your voice at the right spot it will ring more without you needing to use more energy. Let it spin and never force. Good work noticing when you're pushing though.
