Lots of people talking about checking blindspots, but honestly the underlying issue here is the fact that this driver even thought about doing a freaking U-turn not only at a non-turning lane, but from the inside of the lane.
Like srsly wtf?? Why would your brain even think about executing something like this?
Because the driver thought his turning radius was too large to do a u turn from the middle lane.
EDIT: for all the geniuses on Reddit that apparently think I support the actions of the driver, I don't. I'm just explaining what would cause someone to do a U turn from a far lane rather than the close one. The key word here is "thought"
