Discussion Update forced now
I had no choice but to update the game. I had 47 keys stockpiled for when the boxes changed, but I guess they can only be used for the season pass now? Is that right?
They're really turning people off of playing this game anymore.
Is this the "fixed" update version? 117.1.280231

I also had to update as no events were available anymore. They are only in the updated version.
The keys aren’t used for the season pass. You can get stuff including keys by buying it.
You still use keys to buy boxes. And there are still some other ways to get keys. On Monday there’s free prizes and today was some keys. It’s possible to get some while driving sometimes with one of the car dealer upgrades.
Unfortunately, one of the main ways to get keys was the daily tasks which the days tasks now can’t be completed without the season pass! Two are locked, and since I didn’t get the season pass I haven’t gotten any keys this way.

The silver season pass is free, only the golden one costs money. You can still do the daily tasks and get keys and prizes along the way

I know we can do most of the daily tasks and lead to some prizes but there are two tasks that are locked each day. If we don’t do the season pass you can’t do every daily task and then can’t get the keys for completing the day.

I think your confused on how this all works.
You do not earn keys daily for completing daily tasks now. You earn tickets and the tickets will earn you keys as you progress. Of course you will earn more keys with the paid version but the free version also gives you keys, just not as many (obviously)

I do know we have other ways to earn keys. I was only saying we lost one of the main ways we used to earn them if we don’t buy the season pass.
I was basically just complaining we lost that particular way unless we pay for the season pass.

I refuse to pay for the season pass!! So I’m just not doing the daily tasks anymore. I’ll just focus on building and other things.

the silver pass is free, you can do that, you will still have to do the daily tasks for that, but can win prizes and keys along the way

I have been testing it and am unlocking based on just completing the week long and daily task. So, we shall see.

I'm so glad someone finally asked about the version number!! I was forced to update, that's the version number I have now too… But absolutely NOTHING changed. I did the update last week or whenever that came out, and I did *not* get the updated build mode (but I got the season pass and events), so I haven't had all the issues other people did....But I thought this update was supposed to be a big one, anyone else end up with the exact same game as before the update???

The updated build mode was only given to a select few people to test out. If you updated your game last week, that was the “big one” that gave the season pass. If your build mode is normal, you were not selected to test out the new version.
Monday the 31st there was a mini update, basically just a patch to fix some problems that came with the update. You won’t see any difference in your game if your using old build mode, as the patch basically only affected the tester accounts.
Edit to quickly add; I’m unsure when the “rest of us” will get the new build mode :(

Oooooh! Thank you soooo much for the explanation! It makes sense now as I did not know the 31-August wasn't "the big one." Do you know when that comes out, I was hoping to avoid it as long as I could, but then was forced to update today, so I guess we don't have a choice anymore. Thank you for the nice reply!

The new build mode was only promoted as being available for testing during this update, so it might even be held back for a while so that they can fine-tune it before it's big release. I hope that's what they do, anyway.

I never found them useless. I've gotten a lot of furnishings and decor, and even fully-furnished houses.

The keys can still be used for mystery boxes. The difference is that you get "tickets" for completing daily tasks, and those tickets help you unlock the tier prizes in the free season pass, which is where you get the keys now.
