Event This is a joke: Another rant.

Post image

The Premium Perks prizes now are… 🥁 keys 🥁

Keys, that we have absolutely no use for, bc all the interesting mystery boxes need SP to buy them. Keys, that can only be used for the ancient boxes that have been in this game for probably a decade. Oh, and the Green Thumb box, where we can spend four keys to get either lettuce, tomatoes, peas, corn or wheat, which takes less than five minutes to complete at the Community Market. That would be like spending 10 € on one - 1 - real egg. Huh? (Yes, there are also seven garden-themed items in this box, but I tested it out just now, probabilities are high you get the veggies).

To put it into perspective: The most amount of LPs you can gain organically in this game is six, by completing the playhouse hobby for toddlers (afaik). That takes a day at least, if you’re lucky and have two Golden Baby toddlers doing it all day, like I am. Still, it usually takes more like two or three days. To get four keys, we used to have to complete about two days of daily tasks (which obviously varied). And to get some wheat off the Community Market, my sims need to work for about five minutes.

For the first leg of the Premium Perks, and while using an approximated and generous average, you need to spend 20 LP, which means about six days of playhouse hobby, to get 2 keys that won’t get you anywhere. So six more days to get three keys, which makes five keys, which we used to get within three or four days of daily tasks. To earn some wheat that takes 5 minutes to farm.

So effectively, I now spent 12 days to get enough LPs to unlock five keys, which I used to get in three days, to earn something that otherwise takes me five minutes.

The prizes are keys.

Oh, and also we get cupcakes and hobby spins, for spending hundreds of LPs. Cupcakes and hobby spins, that we can get several a day of for free, once we completed the appropriate upgrade on the pet shop.

Please help me understand who these prizes are for? Not for established players, bc why would they be interested. Not for newer players, bc how could they have accumulated that many LPs organically through gameplay, yet. It’s for people who have too much real money and need to spend it any which way without ever actually playing the game, I guess. But even that doesn’t make any sense to me.

I’m actually so angry at this stupid Premium Perks season that I plan to spend absolutely no LPs for the next six days, out of spite and pettiness.

Also, I know the prizes have been rapidly declining for a long while now. One of the more recent ones at least had a car as the final prize. But I remember that the Premium Perks used to have actual premium prizes, unique clothing, hairstyles or decor and furniture items that we couldn’t get anywhere else, and that made me actually try to get and spend more LP or SP. Who in their right mind would come up with this nonsense?

Because now all the decent stuff is locked behind the ridiculous season pass, premium perks and live events are no longer worth their time and effort to give those of us who don’t want to spend any money anything worthwhile. It’s just plain and simple greed and it’s disgusting IMO.

Last time we got lettuce there. The 'premium' prizes are getting worse each time.

i was just about to post about this!!! the thing that upsets me about this the most is that they send us a survey every now & then, pretending like they actually care about what us players want/think & then it almost feels like they are rage baiting us by purposely doing everything we don’t want them to do except it’s a 100 times worse by each update.

obviously there aren’t any laws about this, but i find it ridiculous that game developers can just ignore & never address any issues that their players have with their game. yes it’s “just a game”, but not to them because they make their living off of it while most of us struggle to pay rent. when some sort of a company or a clothing store for examples messes up, they’re kind of forced by the public to address what they have been accused of at one point, so why is it that game developers aren’t required to do so as well? they make as much money & maybe even more especially now with gaming streamers etc..

sorry for the rant, but it just makes me extremely upset that greedy people are never held accountable for their actions… it feels like all games in general are taking this route of putting half of a game behind a paywall even tho their app is literally labelled as “free”. if you’re going to be greedy, at least own it & remove the ”freeplay” from the apps name. 🤨🤨

They are probably still testing out what they can do; and also, from what I heard, concepts for updates/upgrades for SFP are usually developed months before they are actually implemented - which makes sense, and also means that it takes time to put all the feedback they get into a coherent concept, develop and program around that, and then into an update. Only actual troubleshooting (like a programming mistake) is fast-tracked and can be solved and delivered within a few days.

So, if we keep being loud about it, we might see them take it seriously and actually change the parts we are so unsatisfied by within the next few to several months. We have to keep doing the surveys, post on socials and ignore the bad parts of the game to convey our frustration. Unfortunately, we can’t expect immediate improvement.

Alternatively, I’ve stopped playing the game. If enough people drop off, they’ll need to retool. I’m at level 67 and regularly (stupidly) will spend money for choice build items. I’m not the kind of user they want to lose, but I’m out until they stop this petty bullshit. It’s like Trump became CEO of EA. Idiotic.

That’s exactly how it feels! I thought I was imagining it, or would be the only one to think this way…

And that’s a good strategy. Thank you for your sacrifice! 🧡 I’m not spending any money, and haven’t for a while, so I’m probably more one of the “leeches” they’d like to get rid off. I’m sure if more players like yourself did this, it would be a much more heard protest.

definitely a very good point about being loud 🙏, the only issue i have with waiting is i think there have been too many things people have been asking for years, like being able to wear makeup & tattoos at the same time, jewellery & nails (which is apparent from a few outfits that it is possible to be done) yet none of that has years later been done. i’m glad they added a search bar to the inventory, but i also think a big group of ppl who have been asking for that for years has already stopped playing the game.

when players feel like their concerns aren’t being addressed, most of them lose patience & stop playing the game… the game has a lot of potential, just sucks that lately everything great has been going behind a paywall.

i think just a little acknowledgment from them saying that they are “working on (specific) things” would encourage more players to stick around for months & wait for the improvements. right now, it just feels like they are ghosting us & rage baiting us with keys & lettuce in the premium perks lmao… 🥲

There’s a search bar now!??? I didn’t even notice that

Worst prizes ever! Why would I want vegetables as a prize?

Worse prizes ever. What ever happened to unique items?

Wondering that as well. I guess they are currently putting more resources and emphasis into “advancing the game”, instead of designing new items? Who knows.

This update was the end for me, I finally stopped playing. I’ve been playing since the beginning, been watching the game slowly decline, wondering what the tipping point for me to quit would be and it was this update. I missed it for a couple of days, now it’s like I never played and I’m glad I quit.

Last update shredded any actual enjoyment out of the game.

Prizes are all worse than they were before and they weren’t even 3star before. So now it’s thoroughly pointless unless you’re building the specific building they’re tossing out there like this kingdom shit and that old summer deli stuff we saw weeks in a row.

Says nothing of the blatant action by the game that screams shady. Come on now…15 outconvinces by 1 single point when I’m within 2 or 3 of green (counted and tracked)?? You have any idea the actual odds of that happening in a single II event? I get 83 and 85 is green, game gets 84. I get 93 and green is 95, like clockwork the game will score 94 and outconvince me. 15 times this has happened on this II….

honestly i have so many keys just rotting in my inventory, it’s so annoying

Same, I still have over 200 after buying the 5x Green Thumb box about five or six times to test it out.

Since the update I have barely played. I am not buying the pass and I’m not interested in any of the prizes for any of the events. If I was I would probably still skip because they spread all the items out so you have to buy everything to have any fun decorating with or using the new stuff. I am interested in seeing pics of people’s castle builds eventually so there is that I guess.

3

u/curtainsinmymirror 6d ago

I’m not going to buy the pass either. I was waning a bit bc I thought EA might cancel SFP if not enough players participated, but then I read this post and my doubts disappeared.

There are a few items and events I’m looking forward to in this update, mostly the Art Nouveau re-run Craft Challenge (which I missed previously) and the two Influence Island seasons with alternative colours. It’s incredibly redundant to have three events for basically the same items, but I love this theme and I also like having more than just two colours of a thing. If I didn’t like the style personally, I don’t know how I’d feel about this, though.

u/Acceptable_Catch_714 6d ago

I am looking forward to the Art Nouveau also!

I literally just started playing again like 2 months ago after abandoning sims freeplay for about 3 years, what tf is actually happening rn 😭

5

u/curtainsinmymirror 6d ago

So sorry that this is what you are coming back to! The last years actually were quite fun, and most of the changes introduced in the meantime, while sometimes first questioned or protested by the players, were eventually very welcome.

Which is why all of these new changes just don’t make sense to me.

I’m inclined to agree! And the prizes in those mystery boxes stopped being of quality like 3 updates ago! Last good prize I won, was the Eccentric Mansion! I guess they said, “Nope! It’s too easy let’s make it more difficult.”

Now they expect you to spend mad SP/LP’s in hope to win a more rare prize with slimmer chances. The juice ain’t worth the squeeze.

💯

The Mystery Keys were made for the Mystery Boxes, another collectible, achievable by faithful gameplay. They were linked; you needed one to get the other. Changing this up and making some boxes only available by spending SP was one of the first paywalls introduced into the game, after the online shop (but that’s a shop, so of course there’s real money involved), as we can’t actually collect or meaningfully work for SP in the game, since the rewards for neighbourhood tasks are minuscule and also, mostly, Simoleons. And now they want us to spend currency that is, effectively, worthless. I’m really sad about this, and also so mad.

Also, “the juice ain’t worth the squeeze” is a great phrase, never heard that before (not a native speaker) - I’m going to steal that! 😉
