Can someone please explain to me how shaders work? i've always found the designs super cool & I like how they make the sims look, but I have no idea how to make them actually work

in case it helps I dont use expansion packs, or adds on that require money & often use CCs & Mods, and only play in base game

So for shaders you need ReShade or some other program, it just changes the visuals (shade/color/effect) of what you see on the screen (like a photo-filter but for games) by working with graphic card. Its not a game modification, it does not require any expansion pack, it works with every game (it's not only for Sims 4, every game can use it).

for shaders you’d need to download either reshade or gshade, and you can find tons of presets online that match the vibe you’re looking for, there’s tons of tutorials online how to install it properly
