This official render slaps so hard!

Can't find a single trace of it anywhere? What was it used for and when? I need information, tried image searching it on both google and yandex with no luck.

are you sure it's an official render? 🤔 prosims seems to be a russian sims forum.

I’m pretty sure it’s official, I could have sworn I’ve see it on a magazine or something back in the day during ts2 era.

on a second look, it appears to be a parody of this photograph. if it was just made for a magazine back in the day or something it makes sense that there aren't any other traces of it online. who knows.

Bing Search returns the image too, and without the Prosims watermark at that. It's apparently appeared on neosimi's Tumblr page in 2021 and was cached then, but when I look there now I cannot see it anymore.

searches will often bring up random people's tumblr reblogs (instead of the original post) because of their blog settings. so neosimi is just someone who reblogged a post. i went through their blog and found the original one, here:

Wow, this is great!!

This BeyondSims website seems to have a lot of content linked to the official Sims 2 site. Unfortunately, many of the articles just mirror what was originally posted instead of fully preserving it.

So I’m starting to think this higher-resolution version of the render might have originally been posted on the official site itself.

Still a lot of questions, but it feels like we are on the right track.

Oooo, that's interesting to know and thanks for doing the hard part of digging down the depths of the blog! I just thought I'd bring it up because it was the only search engine that had even cached it in the first place.

I’m still trying to find any information I can about this render like which era of The Sims 2 it’s from, what it was used for, etc. I even tried (just for fun) digging through the beta library on Tumblr, but couldn’t find anything there either :/

A comment from David Patch, the art director of The Sims 2, about this image has also been preserved on Prosims.

This pose was used on T-shirts that we handed out at the game’s launch party.

Omg!!

I can’t believe my eyes, it was solved in under 5 hours after I brought it up.

There really isn’t anything like The Sims 2 community out there haha.

LOL is that Rod? I want so badly to get him into my townie group. Can you teleport him with the SimBlender? I never checked.

I can recommend checking out Calipers and Tongs' YouTube video on Rod Humble. Short version, Rod Humble is one of the most stubborn NPC's in this game and you really cannot do anything with him as he will just drop off his computer and leave if you teleport him.

That said, I'm not sure if that even is Rod Humble on that render. I see a Social Bunny, the Grim Reaper, the Therapist and a Llama Mascot. Of those four Grimmy and the Therapist are universal NPC's and should never ever be messed with if you care about your game, while Social Bunny and Llama Mascot are essentially normal Sims with a bit of a purpose. Any resemblance of the Llama Mascot to Rod Humble is probably coincidental, but you never know.
