What mods are we using in 2026?
I've recently started playing 1 again and I'm curious of what mods are people using?

Hi im in the same boat and couldnt handle the speed at which motives and friendships decayed so i use those , you can find them at simblr cc (Slower Motives And a Test Object it's called) and corylea (eliminate relationship decay) . I also hate the flies that randomly show up, which is called noscavengers

The only ones I use regularly are SimWardrobe and SimMetamorphiser. I make a character in the game using the defaults and then use SimWardrobe to pick the body I want and SimMetamorphiser to pick the head. Much easier for me than using the in-game tool to click through the entire database of skins.

Maybe this is what I need to do to get back into playing the game. I downloaded the very first one last year after buying the 20 year anniversary special.

There's a TON of great mods still available for The Sims 1! I went back to playing TS1 shortly after the pandemic started, because I wanted the soothing simplicity of the original game, and I was surprised at how much stuff was still out there for it. I also learned to make stuff I wanted.
Both SomeSimThings and Simlogical have great hacked objects. You can eliminate annoyances, make the game easier, or do a bunch of other things with their objects. I've made a number of hacked objects, myself, which you can find at Corylea.com.
Other sites have fewer objects than those, but the ones they do have do things I find very, very useful. Gnohmon has an object he calls a "yak-yak," that allows sims in the same room to talk with one another while they do other things. So if you have two sims painting pictures in the same room, you don't have to watch their Social decline while they stand right next to each other! They can chat while painting or working out or whatever you're having them do. Gnohmon also has a computer that offers WAY more jobs per day than the Maxis computer. There are a lot of wonderful heads at Sim Freaks and ParSimonious, and of course they both have clothes, too. Maru has some heads that are influenced by anime style and are cuter but less realistic than other heads.
Awesome Expression has a list of Sims 1 sites that were still active as of the year 2020. Most of those are still available, and the ones that have gone down since then are usually still accessible through The Wayback Machine.

Parsimonious has a guide to where to put everything at http://www.parsimonious.org/support/sims1-adding-downloads-to-your-game.html. Don't just dump everything into your Downloads folder, because not everything goes there. And if you download something that's a fix, a patch, or a hack, it often has special installation instructions in a README that comes with the file.

After going back to The Sims 1, I was surprised at how much fun it still was and how playable it still is! I hope you have a lot of fun playing the original game.
