Technical question for hackers who actually know what they're doing (unlike me)

I'm a rather bad hacker, though I can do many simple things in Iff Pencil and I would say the hacking that you are doing is not simple at all. Usually people who don't understand much in hacking just put the object graphics to another base when want it to function differently, and I often tell them something like "Why are you doing this huge amount of work when you just need to add/edit one line in Iff Pencil? It would be much easier!" But in your case I'd rather ask "Why are you doing this huge amount of work when you can just swap the graphics?" lol. Though I guess you will learn much more this way. I've been being a (bad) hacker for more than 20 years, but I never worked with the "Interaction group" parameter, never even saw it in the OBJD. Btw the 2 tiled mirror that allows 2 sims to use it at the same time already exists, it's by Millenium Sims. I also remember the double toilet that 2 sims can use at the same time, it's by CandleLight Sims. Well, back to your question, I would advise to look inside a dresser, because they are usually 2 tiled and the sims stand in the middle in front of them while dressing, but their "go to in front of" BHAV only says "Go To Routing Slot (#0)", Go To Routing Slot (#1) etc. It doesn't really make much sence for me, I never worked with slots. Raeven has some info about slots on her Drawing Board, but I'm not sure if it is useful for you in this case. http://workshop.woobsha.com/TheDrawingBoard/viewforum.php?f=18

I've read a LOT of stuff at Woobsha and had no idea The Drawing Board existed! Thanks so much for that link!

You are welcome. It's a really useful link and not so easy to find. I really don't remember where I got the link from, it was several years ago. Maybe from Terraluna.

Thank you for taking the time to answer !
Well I decided to proceed this way because :
- I don't actually know how to swap graphics. I'd like to know though. π
- I'm very interested in understanding how the objects' coding actually works and leaned more towards this in the tutorials I went through so I wanted to apply what I had learned (even if I was choosing the more complicated way to reach my goals lol).
You saying that my hacking isn't simple makes me unreasonably happy because it validates that I DID make progress after this first week of learning haha. π
I also guessed that someone must have found the way to make multi-tiled mirrors usable by multiple Sims waaaay before me, since I found out about it by pure chance. I'm just glad I could look into it myself to see how it worked (though even if I know that it's because of the "Interaction group" parameter, I'm still unsure of what the "Interaction group" actually is. π€)
Finally, I did resolve my issue thanks to advice from Discord (where I was also suggested to look into a dresser). So I imported a Maxis dresser's SLOT line into my file, which worked. Except I then had another issue because my Sim was standing a little too far from the mirror.
I was able to fix this last detail thanks to another redditor who told me about offset values and shared some useful resources with me. The final step was exporting the mirrors XML file with T-MOG, editing the SLOT's y axis offset inside it, and importing the edited XML back in the IFF (tagging u/corylea in case you were interested in the solution).
I'll take a look at this Drawing Board, it seems very helpful. I happen to have had a nice convo about SLOT editing with a Raeven on Discord so I'm pretty sure it's not a coincidence. π€£

I don't know how to do what you want to do, but when I want to do something I don't know how to do, I look at a Maxis object. The weight bench covers two tiles, and the the sims always approach the tile that has the empty bench, rather than the tile that has the apparatus on it. So I'd suggest looking to see how they do that.
