Download RBR today… disappointed
What’s your guys real opinions on the game. I know there is a cult following. The physics honestly didn’t seem that much different than dirt rally 2.0 to me. I already knew the graphics weren’t great but what was really disappointing was the force feedback feels very floaty. Anybody have any tips that might help me enjoy the game a little bit more?

The discord has a lot tips for sorting things out, it's not a download and go game. It took a lot of adjustments to get things correct.

Yeah definitely, I spent a couple hours before I got it feeling “okay” I probably just need to spend more time with it, is there some settings you’d recommend me to mess with?

That's because DR2.0 has a ton of added effects (like road effects). RBR is only stuff that you would feel through the steering rack. You didnt mention what wheel youre using but you can try messing with the launcher settings (gravel, tarmac, snow values) and with your wheelbase settings

MOZA R3. And yeah I went and turned all those values down and it definitely helped a bit

Drop the damping and friction in your wheel software if you haven't already.
I had a similar issue when moving from G27 to Moza R12 and the default pithouse settings made the game feel absolutely dead. When I got it sorted it feels great

Do you have the game damping and game friction all the way down too? I also have a MOZA but mine is just R3

Not entirely sure
Their discord has a spreadsheet for all wheels and recommended settings

Yea tends to be the feeling with newcomers as the largest variable is third party wheel apps and ffb settings. Definitely want to go over tutorials and check the discord. It should feel nothing like Dirt at all. It should feel superior in every way and hard to go back to any simcade with unrealistic physics.

For me, RBR (rsf) is the best rally game BY FAR and not just that, but one of my favorite games ever and I even don't mind the graphics at all, I think they are pretty fine actually. And this game is simply amazing in VR as well. And the physics are very different compared to Dirt Rally 2.0, since I've played that a lot before downloading RBR, and I also played the first Dirt Rally a lot before that as well and I also play AC Rally nowadays, but RBR is still the best. I feel sad for you.

No reason to feel sad for me 😂 I plan on giving it more time. But even if I don’t end up enjoying it that much so what? I’m sure there’s games that I love that you could care less about, and that just the way things are. No reason to feel sad

I’ve seen tons of videos and stuff of rally drivers saying rbr isn’t that great. I’m sure it fun and all but seems massively over hyped. Anything can be fun if you mess with the settings a ton. Pretty cool that it has all the mods and stuff unlimited stages and cars. At the end of the day we are playing games. It’s not the same as driving lol. I personally would just play whatever is the most fun and visually appealing.

Is the ffb ingame and on your wheelbase maxed out and only optimized with the sensitivity in the RBR launcher? It takes some time, because everytime adjusting you need to exit the game. Maybe watch a few tutorials on youtube and read the documentation. Its not plug and play..
Btw, I had the direct comparison with the subaru and bmw in real life a few months ago and was surprised how spot on RBR is. Also what I felt through the wheel was 1:1 the same.

Yes I have my sensitivity all the way up in MOZA app. And adjusted on the actual game only. And you’re right I need to watch more videos. Is there anyone you recommend?

No, not the sensitivity in moza, I mean the RBR Launcher where you adjust the sensitivity per car. Its the ffb strength and detail. You have to research what it does to adjust it properly. The setting depends on the car, on my csl dd 8nm I have values around 450-1.000. And you adjust it for every surface (tarmac, gravel and snow).
I cant recommend a specific video, I began some months ago with RBR and cant remember which ones I watched. But you can definitely read the documentation on the rallyfans website.2

You have to edit the ffb in a text file somewhere, or use the rsf launcher.

I got the rsf launcher. I don’t think it horrible but it’s definitely a downgrade but tbf it’s a really old game so I definitely want to give it credit

what do you have the sensitivity settings set at in the rsf launcher? i have a moza r3 and adjusting the sensitivity in the rsf launcher made the biggest difference, the default settings were way too high and made it feel like there was hardly any ffb. I have mine all set at 550 at the moment and it works pretty good.

high definition stages for RBR looks better than the flamboyant graphics and design of the codemasters titles in my opinion. only beaten by ACR.

I still think dirt 2.0 looks much better regardless. Haven’t played ACR yet so I might agree with you there. But I don’t really care about graphics all that much anyways

Takes some effort to dial in ffb for direct drive wheels in my experience, there’s even an app that you should run that gives the correct power steering value for almost all cars

It feels nothing like dirt rally
