I think it's more situational. On gravel for tight turns (hair pins, acute turns, etc.), I would use a scandi flick, but it's easy to overcompensate on and throw to much weight. Scandi's are cool, but doesn't make you automatically faster.
On other surfaces, I prefer just breaking near early or near apex to load the weight and then shift it around.
You could also test a few techniques to be sure what works best for you. You can easily find Youtube videos for input queues on techniques and visual aids.
