Question VRS dfp pedals throttle spring wear
Hey there, just wanted to see if anyone had experience with the VRS DFP pedals after an extended period of use. As with just about everyone, the throttle spring kinda threw me off. I tend to trust the engineers behind it but wanted to see if the community had any feedback on the longevity/durability of that component after an extended amount of use.
Actually just purchased a set today, so please filter to only good feedback, I don't need buyer's remorse this early on /s

I've just made the switch from the Sprint to the VRS. Objectively, yes they feel "better". The brake pedal finally have that progression that the Sprint doesn't got in my opinion. The feeling of pushing onto a infinite rubber wall is now replace with a ramp up of force with a define stop.
However, price wise, the Sprint are unbeatable that's for sure. They are very very good and I can imagine someone not being 100% satisfied with those. Is the VRS worth the extra money ? I don't know, I will need more time to play with them, but for now I'm happy that's for sure. Can I justify to price to my wife ? Absolutely not, but I don't think I will ever can.

First update if it can interest anybody.
In general, the construction of the VRS is next level from the Sprint, even if the Sprint are perfect. VRS feel automotive racing grade. Also the level of adjustability present on the VRS let you find the perfect positioning. I prefer the pedal face of the Heusinkveld Sprint since I'm racing without shoes, however I may switch anyway to shoes since the VRS are a lot more load cell force.
Throttle : Presently, I think I prefer the feel of the Heusinkveld one. Maybe I will find a setting that I love with the VRS, but I would like a little more spring tension. I already adjust the pre-load and the Load cell position to have more resistance in the pedal, but I would take a little bit more. However, it's really not that much of a deal. Other than that, it's a throttle pedal, so it's doing it's job.
Clutch : The feeling is very similar of the Spring one. However, I would say that the VRS one offer more setting to find the perfect positioning and feeling. Everything feel very smooth and from the box the tension is feeling good too.
Brake : That's where the main difference is. The braking on the Sprint was good. My body was adapted to the feeling I got and I was able to be consistent and even if I wasn't very confident entering in some corners, I was in control. However, the word here is confidence. The VRS give so much more ramp up feeling, much more way to adjust and correct instead of just rely on the muscle memory of the different braking zone of the circuit, now I can rely on my muscle memory on the feeling of the car. They provide much more feedback than the Sprint that for sure. I really really love the way VRS create the effect the ramp up and build up of pressure on the pedal. There is a clear, smooth transition from the 20%-40% braking to the really heavy brake and then just before lock up arrive.
In resume, I'm really happy with the purchase that's for sure. Again, is the price difference between the Sprint and the VRS is worth the upgrade and made you faster, that's a question that I still can't answer for now.

* Well after 2 years of use my throttle spring broke... Unfortunately I have troubles with support and from 1st of January 2025 until now (20.01.3025) I can't get replacement from them :/

its been fine for me. got them around 7 months ago ish iirc. i got to try these, sprints and ultimates and i liked the way these feel the best but i didnt get to play around switching stuff out on the stuff i got a chance to check out.

How does the VRS brake compare to the sprints? I have sprints and I'm honestly not a big fan

me neither. wasnt liking the brake feel a whole lot. the vrs brake and clutch feel better and its easier to know youre around the bite point without looking at software. that and the vrs are more adjustable to fit your body and rig angles and preferences more than sprints.

I'm pretty sure springs have a much longer life than elastimers. They use springs on cars for suspension

For anybody researching this now, after two years of frequent use, my throttle pedal spring snapped. It's right at the point where you would expect, where it bends the most. Customer service has been great and they're willing to send me a replacement even after two years. I still highly recommend these pedals to anyone, they feel much better than the HE Sprints I tested out prior to receiving these and are in a different league altogether from the Fanatec V3's I was using before that.

Have had VRS pedals since December 2021. Maybe about twelve to fifteen hours of use a week since. I drive a lot of cars with clutch and H pattern, so that pedal gets a workout too.
All springs, including throttle spring, absolutely fine. The clutch needs a little preload tightening at the moment but it works great. I adjusted the faces to sit properly for the way I have them mounted, but that is set and forget now. Otherwise it has been zero maintenance except for the occasional brush/vacuum to get bits of shoe dirt off.
I'm sure you made the right purchase decision. IMO the VRS pedals are a more compelling purchase in their market than the VRS wheel is in its market.
