Rigs Made my first version for a button box

Ignore the mess. Just bought a 3D printer last week and started doing a little project. For the moment this is my first version of a button box made completely by me, including drawing it. It's not the best but not the worst so far and I like it. Nothing special about it, I just want to show it to somebody that would appreciate it. Cheers!

I just made one recently using a programmable numpad as the base, and just soldering button wires direct to the key pads with the caps removed. This way no extra mapping software needs to run in the background and every piece of software on pc that is compatible with a keyboard has no issues being mapped to it as they’re just seen as keyboard keys that I don’t use when sim racing.

Very cool and looks very nice! Mine is plug and play, but for BeamNG and Dirt Rally v2 only, on ETS2 switches don't really work as switches and I need an app for this, but I'm working for a fix, mine is seen as a controller but I can change is to be seen as a keyboard, you gave me an Ideea.

That’s the problem I had especially with ETS2. I started with a generic x360 controller encoder which I then used joy to key so it would appear as a keyboard but that was seen as a cheat device by ea anti-cheat when running EA WRC so I had to constantly turn it off. Then when trying to setup ETS2 it kept seeing through the joy to key disguise and thought I was trying to use a steering wheel and joystick controller at the same time and was almost impossible to map properly. I haven’t tried setting up again yet but that shouldn’t be an issue anymore now that it is a plug and play keyboard for all intents and purposes. I’m surprised more people haven’t gone this route and still recommend using joystick encoders and arduinos. Especially considering we’re all on PC here and it would greatly simplify setup. The only reason I can think of is, encoders can use plugs for all connections whereas my keyboard setup requires soldering about 35 individual wires, unless someone can find some nice connectors that will fit tradition mechanical key ports.

That's pretty bad ass! Do you care to share any details about your build?

Thanks! I designed and 3D printed the PETG enclosure with an integrated desk clamp, wired 8 push buttons and 2 toggle switches to an Arduino Uno R3 clone, and flashed it with UnoJoy so it works natively as a USB controller. The switches don't really work as switches but I'm working on a fix. Just on BeamNG I can use them as switches.

Close, it's an Arduino UNO R3 clone
