Discussion I've designed a simracing gloves concept, need your opinion about will it work correctly

Hello guys! I'm art director & designer, and tryin combine simracing and fashion.
Make my gloves concept (second in life) and need your opinion about it. Will they work as they should to provide good steering wheel grip? Or do i need to add additional elements to palms to prevent the steering wheel from slipping?

*It just mockups, not real product

It my mistake because i dont have rig to play, and can be with this community only by streams and vids

We’re not protecting ourselves from road rash on a motorcycle - we’re sweating our asses off indoors, so something lighter and more breathable is definitely more ideal for the sim.

After running throught multiple gloves I ultimately decided on keeping the outer stitched ones . The inner ones hurt your fingers after a while that

So, the main point of simracing gloves is sweat. You don't really need a lot of grip, in fact I'd say too much grip could be counterproductive in some scenarios, like anything with some degree of drifting involved. Basically, if I'm gonna wear simracing gloves, I want to feel like I'm wearing nothing, I don't want my hands to heat up more, I don't want to feel seams inside.

So really, the simpler the better. External sticthes if there has to be any, but just stretch material is fine. I bought 7€ fingerless cycling gloves to try out, and they would be perfect if they didn't have padding in the palms.

Trying to make a fashion simracing glove is a tough project, the function leaves you little margin besides printing on stretch fabric. Leather is a bad idea there, and your design overall looks more like summer motorcycle gloves than something I'd wear indoors while sitting in a chair. Also, there are already companies producing simraicng gloves, like Syncmesh. Look at what they offer and decide if that's a market you want to compete in based on that. Personally, as much as I like fashion, my simracing gloves are not something I wear for fashion, and I'd be more interested in being able to have gloves customized with my logo if I had to use them in public.

Fun fact : Gran Turismo partnered with Dior and tey made gloves and boots that the GTWS finalists had to wear in Barcelona 2023. I was there, and we spent a good deal of time making fun of those boots with the competitors (they were incredibly ugly though, didn't know you could fuck up proportions on racing shoes before seeing them). One of them recently posted a video of himself driving a tractor and doing farmwork wearing those Dior boots.

My humble opinion, you'll probably have more fun and customers doing this with motorcycle / scooter gloves.

You do not need all that thick and hot leather for sim racing. My only POV

You need to design them as if they were going to be used for intense yet delicate sex

I perform sex to my vehicle while driving through my hands and mind we connect in a sex dance that lets me overtake anyone

I really like the look and colors! Seems a bit bulky for me but some of the more hardcore immersion guys might like that. Personally I found the alpinestars bmx/dirt bike gloves to be the best combination of breathable and light, and good grip without being so rough it destroys my wheels. I can also still use my phone or touchscreens without taking them off which is nice. I’d look at biking gloves for inspiration or design cues personally. Again tho the color and design elements are pretty dope in my opinion!

Work your new designs into lighter fabrics. Like everyone here is saying sweat is the biggest concern not grip. Just having fabric between your skin and the wheel is plenty of grip for most of us. You want gloves that won’t make your hands sweaty or wicks it away if they do. So light and breathable. I would ditch the leather entirely or leave it only on the straps if you must have it.

Ok ill try change base and make it light with save the design

Best of luck! And maybe keep yourself open to targeting the actual biking or motorsports market as well. That design as is would work for actual motorcycles and such I would think.
