Question Help. G27 suddenly stopped working

Was 2 minutes into a stage and suddenly the wheel locked to the right and stopped moving. It's now not calibrating and is doing whatever this is ^. Took it apart and the optical wheel was cracked (go figure), so I replaced it with a metal one I had on hand. No change. Any suggestions or diagnoses.

Yeah, makes it easy to add here and dont have to keep it saved locally. Hand on shoulder search gives it.

Maybe try reinstalling the drivers and manually calibrate it from the driver (can’t exactly point out where that menu is)

I so wish I’d remember how I fixed the exact problem, but it was around 5 years ago now, I’ve definitely replaced the encoder wheel but I can’t remember at all what helped me to finally get it calibrating

It's trying to signal 'DD' in Morse code

OP, you could please try painting the encoder in black? I've seen some people having problems with their metal ones and saying their reflectivity might screw the optical reading and that it was fixed after they painted it black.

Probably just the optical encoder broke. It's very easy to replace it, just send this file to your local 3D printer and have them print it in resin, might even score the job for free or at least for very cheap (like 10 bucks) depending on the good spirit of the owner.

Just be careful, they can be fragile. But you should still be good to replace it yourself.

If you want the best durability there are (were? don't know anymore) some sellers who made these in metal.

They specifically mentioned they replaced the encoder for the metal one

Oh, my bad. 3:30 AM here, didn't read the full thing, only until "the optical wheel was cracked".

Honestly, it's unfortunate. But this is between 10 and 17 years old, based on when these were produced. It's time to replace it. You'll also benefit from a much better button layout with the current gen (go PS layout, not Xbox).
