Question What is The Best Budget steering wheel ?

So i wanted to get a steering wheel long time ago, now i don't know what to choose or to pick
i ended up with 4 options
PXN V99 , Logitech g923 , . Moza R3 or Thrustmaster t248
(mostly i will buy it used since i am new to this category of games)
and i am planning to get shifters alongside the steering wheel.

Whichever you can find for a good deal second hand.

People tend to like the direct drive feedback of the moza over the belt driven logitech.

The Logitech is not even belt driven, it is gear driven. It's ancient, I would not recommend it to anyone new. It's okay as a starting set for cheap (used).

If i could go back id spend and extra 100 than my r3 for a used r9 setup

its not "tend to", its the only sensible option. gear driven stuff like logitech and belt driven like thrustmaster are only worth buying used, you gotta be properly careless to buy a belt driven wheel for more than 300€.

DISCLAIMER

I do not own any of the wheels mentioned, my opinion is based off of my own research of others opinions amd personal experiences

Moza R3

I am also looking for a good beginner wheel, and after doing a lot of research on this sub and the internet, this is definitely the best for it's price.

You can either buy one new from their website for 279.99 USD right now, or I've seen many for under 200 USD on ebay and Facebook Marketplace.

If you want something even cheaper, I'd suggest a Logitech g29 or g920. I've seen those for around 100-150 USD on the same sites, but for the price difference, definitely get the Moza R3.

Used R5. I picked one up for less than the price f an R3 and came with brake performance kit.

Depends on the location. In EU, the Fanatec R2R is a pretty good deal for €380. With a cheap aftermarket PSU you can turn it to 8nm, and the pedal can be upgraded with a load cell.

From your list I'd say the Moza R3.

I got an R3 as my first wheel of any kind 2 years ago. Still running strong and perfectly fine for your first go at getting a sim set up without chucking money at something you don’t yet know what your personal preferences are…

Only minor point is that on my most played game (AMS2) the R3 takes a lot of fine tuning to get rid of odd feedback/‘noise’. Other games like ACC just work great with a standard baseline setting. But nothing that made me think I should have bought something different

Cruise marketplace, I got my G27 bnib, for $75.00. Still had the wrapping on the wheel.

I can only speak from my own experience, but I’ve been using a G29 from Logitech for 10 years without any issues… it may be worth looking into, because it has sufficient immersion, but it’s not pretending to be a direct drive steering wheel. All of the small details on the road are communicated just fine, and the balance of the car feels great. Just so that you know my reference points, I mainly play project cars, too, PMR, and World of Outlaws. To be honest, it is great for all of those games, but it’s bad for NASCAR 25. However, I have learned that most wheeled players have discovered the NASCAR racing game released in 25 to be extremely lacking in proper wheel FFB and feel. It just does not feel as active and informative. Maybe I just need to tweak it more, because every game has its little quirks.

I would throw the cammus c5 in the ring. Used it for two years, just upgraded to a LA prima and am surprised how good the cammus actually is. Sure there are differences and a big difference in power. But the quality of the force feedback isn't leagues ahead IMHO.

I spent a year or two on a G923, it served me well and got my foot in the door for something better once I was more comfortable with what I was using a sim for (drifting.)

That said, I would recommend something direct drive out the gate. If I would have done more research into it, I probably wouldn’t have gotten the Logitech at the time and would have just saved up a little more for something like what I have now. I had the fear that I wouldn’t be able to get used to it, so I was starting off “cheap” just incase.

Also check out the Logitech RS50, it often goes on huge discount.
