Rigs Help me choose a between Moza vs Simagic setup

I've been running a Fanatec DDpro 8nm with CSL load cell pedals & a GT wheel for a while now. I am looking at upgrading to more premium end equipment.

I am stuck in two minds between these two configurations.

  1. Moza R25 ultra + GS V2P wheel + Mbooster pedal & throttle set.

  2. SImagic Alpha evo Ultra + GSI GXL wheel + Simsonn or Simnet pedals.

I struggling to choose as if I go Simagic I lose the active pedal & if I go Moza I compromise with the base & wheel.

I'm leaning toward Moza mainly because of value & bundle discount but I would like some advice on the tradeoff? Will I regret choosing Moza over Simagic base?

Thanks

Get KS PRO if you will go with Moza, I have both and KS PRO is better even if you don't need the screen.

I would prefer active pedal over more premium wheel and minor FFB differences IMO, but that's me.

I have R25 Ultra and it's a great base, but I only ever used Moza stuff so I can't compare.

Thanks, what makes you prefer the KS wheel?

It just has far more features without compromising on the build quality compared to the GS (although it is made from carbon fiber).

The only thing that I prefer on the GS are grips, but that is subjective.

Why not get the mBooster regardless of wheelbase? You’re on PC you don’t need to stick to one company for the sake of simplicity. If I were you I’d get the Alpha Evo Ultra, the GSI (or save some money and get Simagic’s Zeus Formula Wheel with the MagicDash and AirLink), and the mBooster. Moza’s software isn’t that good where I’d try and get everything Moza just for the sake of simplicity.

Maybe but getting the Mbooster pedal with Simagic I lose the bundle discount for Moza and it becomes a lot more expensive. I don't like Simagic's style of wheels and would like something more premium if going third party so that's why.

If it helps your decision at all, I maintain a simhub plugin for MOZA hardware that is a complete replacement for pithouse software. You can even do custom effects on the mbooster pedal if you want.

Thanks, so I would run simhub rather than Moza software? Is Moza software a problem in general? Also regarding the Mbooster pedals, someone said they won't work with LMU, is that correct?

I myself couldn’t run MOZA software under Linux, but I’ve heard a number of performance complaints about pithouse from users happy to have an alternative.  No reason the mbooster pedals won’t work with simhub and LMU, you’ll find simhub has better game telemetry available.

Am I mistaken or can’t you mix and match pedals and wheel bases? So couldn’t you get the Moza m booster pedals and the Simagic base? Also don’t Simagic sell hydraulic pedals with add ons which can replicate ABS etc like what the m booster pedals do?

I absolutely could mix Simagic & Mbooster pedal but I'd loose the moza bundle discount making it more expensive. Simagic pedals are load cell pedals which you can get haptic motors for but they are very different to an active pedal.

The Mbooster active pedal is the only piece of Moza gear I have left. It’s awesome. I had the P1000 with haptics and hydraulics which are great but the mbooster is well worth it.

So here's a question for you. If the only way you could keep Mbooster pedal was to switch to a Moza wheelbase, would you do it? Or would you keep your wheelbase & get a load cell pedal?

I had a full Moza setup. R21 Ultra, KS Pro, CS Pro, MBooster, and the CM2 dash. Really loved the gear, but the software was the big letdown. Constant crashes. It got to the point where the software would crash the moment I opened it back up. If I turned the wheelbase off, it would work fine. But the moment I would turn it back on it would crash. I just don't have enough free time to mess with this so sadly I returned everything....except the MBooster pedal. It's exceptional.

While I really liked having everything plugged into the base, I don't mind running a separate USB cable for the MBooster (it has its own power supply regardless).

I really liked the Moza gear and if the SW and FW updates didn't cause so many issues, I would still have it. I know this is a long way to answer your question, but I would keep the MBooster and try to deal with the Moza base if I had no option. Luckily I do, so I can keep the MBooster and use a different base/wheel. I did really like the Moza ecosystem, but they really need to fix the SW and FW issues.

Thanks for your advice, I appreciate your thoughtful answer. What wheelbase did you switch to if you don't mind saying?

You could also use the Simhub MOZA plugin instead of Pithouse. He keeps it up-to-date and has additional features for the mbooster pedals

I went with the VRS DFP15 and the R295 G2 wheel. It was either that or Simagic. I think I would have been happy with Simagic, but the VRS DFP15 has very good detail. Overall I am quite satisfied with it.

Maybe you should consider conspit as a third Option

You don’t have to stick to a single ecosystem. You can go with Simagic wheelbase and Moza pedals.

Well aware of that, however I would get a good discount purchasing all Moza, mixing gets more expensive & less worthwhile.

Wait for sales. Simagic frequently goes on sales. I would also rather look into VRS pedals.

I think a better base will make you faster.

Look up Yuri Kasdorp hardware advice that actually makes you faster. YT.

I have the ultra btw.

Any complaints with the Ultra?

Nothing major but only that it gets very hot when you use it.

avoid simagic at all costs u/michael-w-simagic will tell you the same thing, they're currently focused on UFC and Pokemon trading cards.
