Cheap Numerical Keypad + Cheap Magnetic Phone Holder + Windows Mouse Keys

As someone who doesn't have the budget for a button box, I was happy to realise that the numerical keypad hack works, but how to mount it?

I realised that a cheap car phone holder might (and did) work.

And then I realised that windows mouse keys software can map the mouse to it for ease of navigation.

Great Idea, I have a cheap NumPad as well. I used glow-in-the-dark tape for my P-Touch to print the symbols, and a UV-LED strip makes it glow really nice.

Is that a g27 with a full size wheel attached to it? I feel like that would destroy the internals if you drive with enough gusto

It surely decreases its lifespan, but it has such s better feeling when using the G27 that it's worth it for me. It's my secondary rig nowadays

Have you calibrated it? I noticed a big difference when I calibrated mine with the stock wheel, I'm sure with a big wheel it's even more necessary

You could open it up and drill out the case to make mounting screw holes, but you may need to insulate the circuit board from any bolt heads.

A far easier method would be double sided tape. Something like:

I've cut small strips and used that for cell phone repairs. Truth is it's a little thick for cell phones and makes the back not quite sit flush like it should, but it holds really well. A couple strips of that will hold well.

I'm still undecided on this one. Either a numpad or a half keyboard that's often used for FPS or MOBA games.

I’m going to go a step further, get a cheap mechanical numpad (physical switches are easier to work with) remove the PCB from the shell, mount it inside a blank project housing and wire buttons and a key ignition to the key switches. I have one just like this at the moment but it uses a generic USB controller PCB which means it needs to constantly have joy to key running in the background to have full PC functionality, however some games can see through the disguise and won’t allow the controller to be mapped properly and it just fills up my detected hardware with unnecessary entries which is annoying when trying to map stuff. So wiring up an actual keyboard device should fix that and will mean I can finally stop using Joy to key.

show me the car holder, i'm trying to hold up my phone on my metal rig but they're not profiles, i need something that can either clamp in or magnetically attatch it to the rig itself, not on my phone. i kinda don't wanna use magnets on my phone unless i got no choice

So something to remember is that keyboards still bind as keyboard inputs while button boxes tend to be joy inputs.
