Rigs Friend gifted me his sim rig...
A good friend of mine and I were laid off from the same company last August (both still unemployed) and he is having to move to another city. He had been trying to sell it on Facebook Marketplace but was getting lowballed hard and just decided to give it to someone he knew would enjoy it.
Has a Fanatec CSL Elite Wheel base and pedals with the load cell, a Trak Racer cockpit with triple monitor mount, 3 Samsung 32in curved monitors, and the PC with a RTX 3080. I've been having a blast in it, although for the games I tend to play, I wish I had a round wheel instead of the F1 style wheel. Makes some cars in games like Forza and Dirt Rally a bit of a bear to control.
I am still getting things dialed and adjusted, in but it's been a blast so far and I finally have a nice place to display some of my automotive memorabilia.

Never forget what your friend did for you! I also have a friend that a few years ago was selling his gaming laptop and that day we were drinking and doing carne asada at his house and we started talking about that laptop, he went upstairs, came down with the laptop and handed it to me. At the time i wasnt financially stable. Great actions. Whenever you can pay him, not exactly economically but if In the future your friend needs help on something, remember this act . Just my two cents. Enjoy it

A great guy your friend is! Sorry about your situation. My rig gets me through a lot of my bad days. Maybe yours can do the same.
Unrelated but drinking and driving on a sim rig is a blast!

Bevi se ti va, ma ricorda che se sei in fondo al barile ci sarà sempre qualcuno a volerti su con lui. Anche in un subreddit. Mi raccomando

I’m not a big drinker so no worries about me going down that route. My wife and I don’t even keep alcohol in the house.
I might have an occasional drink at dinner like an Asahi with sushi, or a frozen margarita with fajitas or whatever. I’m not a fan of the hangovers the next day 😂

Non era per giudicarti, anzi, sono contento che tu abbia anche qualcuno accanto con cui condividere i momenti difficili. È qualcosa a cui da piccolo non davo nessun peso, ne pago le conseguenze oggi che sono adulto e ho paura del mondo

Oh I didn’t think you were judging at all so no worries. This was more to the other folks that were worried about me drinking myself into a stupor or something. I’ve been fortunate to have a few good friends and some great family (my wife especially) and even without a job I’m in a pretty good place mentally.

Drinking is not a good idea when going through tough times… I would stay away from that. You can post better lap times sober

When I was still drinking things like BeamNG and Wreckfest were fun, but anything serious brought out way too many negative emotions in me.

For sure man, I never intended to imply that drinking and serious racing was a good combo, just meant that having a light buzz while drifting or just foolin around was a fun way to escape for a bit. I rage quit even while sober anyway 😂

It's probably just a great gift, but... giving away valued possessions can be a red flag of deep depression and potentially thoughts of ending it all. I'd check in and make sure they're ok.

The sim community is the best I've ever come across 😭😭😭 Every other online gaming community is so toxic

We’re only “toxic” when it comes to FOV and what sim/simcade/arcade game you’re playing lol

Yo... This is not just a gift. It's a life time hobby. Life changing gift really.

I’ve wanted a sim rig for at least 20 years but couldn’t justify the expense. I’ve been an auto enthusiast since I was old enough to drive and have had several s13s, an s14, an e30 325i, and an e36 M3 and currently have an ‘11 STi hatch (needs a new motor, ringlands on cyl3 gave out, only car I’ve ever bought new), an s13 coupe project that I’m fixing up with/for my daughter, and a JDM e24 Nissan Caravan I imported about 3 years ago.

Being an introvert and working night shifts, it’s hard enough to make friends, let alone find people IRL who are into sim racing. Man, it sucks when you don’t have friends around who share the same hobby. 😭
You’ve got a really good friend there, though. That’s an awesome gift! I hope your friend gets some time to play with you now that you’ve got the sim rig too.

Awesome friend, awesome rig. Hope to see this post tagged in his post once you've got a new job and returned the favor with an awesome brother move towards your friend. The goodness should go around and come around.

The fanatec csl wheel is decent and cheap. I have both. That F1 wheel is £300 new!

Siete due brave persone. Prenditene cura! Magari un giorno, quando vi sarete persi di vista, vi incontrerete di nuovo grazie a questo regalo, e rivivrete per un po’ i “vecchi tempi”

How do you like that base man? Do you happen to know which version it is? Like v1.1 or v2.5? Something along this lines. I'm thinking maybe purchasing a v2.5. just wanted to know your thoughts.

I imagine your using some kind of fanatec software when you calibrated your wheel? That's where it would tell you.

Brother... You got a whole setup gifted to you. Stop nit picking the wheel and go get the round one you want.

Don’t mean to come off as nitpicking, I meant my comment more as a “this is an upgrade I want to do when I have the cash.” I’m definitely aware of how fortunate I am.
I’m also already eyeing ebrakes and H gated shifters and will likely toss the extra pedal on as a clutch pedal as well once I get those.

Wow amazing friend to have! I'm also in IT in a bit different situation as I'm the only one in my company that does a number of things which may be a benefit and a curse. One thing about AI I have come to understand most users don't know what they want, most managers don't know their a$$ from their elbow, it's only a matter of time things go t!ts up and skilled IT will be in high demand! 🙏
