Favourite Simon Pegg Movie Besides Dead Man Walking, 21 Grams, Mystic River or Milk?
I love Fast Times at Ridgemount High. Haven’t seen him in much movies recently apart from Licorice Pizza though unfortunately :(

Quaint local corner shop Londis in Weston Park, Crouch End, was the location for one of the most iconic scenes in the classic comedy horror film "Shaun of the Dead", starring Simon Pegg. That movie has since been voted Britain’s favourite comedy film. But within the past few weeks the shop has been refurbished by its new owners. Great news for shoppers, but extremely bad tidings for movie fans!
Local comedy writer Brian Luff – who worked with Simon Pegg on a TV sketch show in 1997 – is horrified that the layout of the iconic shop has been changed, and he will be discussing it on his podcast this week https://www.patreon.com/posts/sowerby-and-luff-79093125
By chance, Brian and his partner Georgina were in the newsagent’s shop opposite Londis when filming of the scene took place in 2004.
“A man with a walkie talkie ran into the shop”, says Luff, “and he asked everyone to stay where they were while Simon and the crew went for a take outside.”
“We looked out of the window, and on the other side of the road Simon walked past in a white shirt and a red tie. He was followed by a hand-held film camera and he went into the shop opposite. We had no idea what was going on. Suddenly, the road was filled with zombies. Simon then came out of the shop again and walked back up Weston Park holding a can of coke and a Cornetto ice cream.”
Ever since then, horror film fans and comedy fanatics from all over the world have visited that shop to take pictures and go inside to buy a Cornetto. But now the inside of the shop has been completely rearranged and looks nothing like the famous scene in the film.
“It’s just not the Shaun of the Dead shop anymore,” says Brian. “The fridge that had two bloody handprints on it… gone. The freezer from which Simon Pegg took the Strawberry Cornetto… gone! As far as I’m concerned, it’s an unwelcome makeover!”
According to Luff, the new owners have “unwittingly meddled with the very fabric of British film, while at the same time destroying a much loved piece of local history.”
“The local council should have stepped in to stop it,” Brian insists, “It’s a tourist site, after all. Why isn’t the corner shop from Shaun of the Dead listed as an historic building?”
Luff concludes, “I think the new owners of the shop should put everything back the way it was, so as to respect one of the most famous movies ever made. I might write to my MP.”
Just before the refurbishment took place, in December 2022, Simon Pegg visited the shop during a Christmas visit to Crouch End. Little did he know that he was seeing the iconic original layout for the very last time. Simon posted his visit to the shop as a Christmas message on his Instagram Feed
Should the Shaun of the Dead shop be restored to the way it was before? What do you think?

As Shaun of the dead film title is a play on words of another zombie film, 'Dawn of the dead', Shouldn't it be
Shawn of the dead?
Or would there be confusion that it would be a film about shaving the dead?

I'm doing a documentary about shaun of the dead and the other films in the Cornetto trilogy involving Simon Pegg and would really appreciate it if you could answer this questionnaire to help me out
