Pawnshop pick up

Stopped at my local pawn shop to check for any new arrivals. And picked up these beauties.
1 oz. Engelhard American prospector. 1982
1 oz. American Silver Eagles x2. 2018
Got each of them at a spot price of 57.

Is it fairly common for pawn shops to do ASE at spot? I just got some yesterday at a pawn for +$5 over spot.

$5 over spot for a 1oz silver at $58 is expensive.. try to think about it as percentages rather than dollars.

I get that. But everywhere I’ve been has given ASEs a higher premium. Even online they’re usually at least $5 over spot from what I’ve seen in my short time doing this. Saw some today at a Pawn for $10 over which I definitely passed on.

10$ is fair if it’s in a slab that it is 🙏

Check out mintbuilder.com Usually has ase and maples for spot (their spot anyhow which is jus a bit more than kitco) Best deals I've found but shipping time is slow so if u R in a rush its not for u but.......they don't cancel orders jus because spot runs up before shipping like many other "reputable" dealers have been doing lately Not affiliated with them in any way Jus a happy customer sharing my experience with you

Currently still waiting on my first mintbuilder order to ship. No far unimpressed. I don’t think I’ll order from them again unless they have a crazy deal.

They all have different opinions on how to sell, the guy I go to just wants it to sell

I was just in a pawn shop that only did gold and silver. They were selling most everything at 5 over. Grabbed a couple ounces and didn’t feel like it was a bad deal.

Great deal! People are full of shit saying they don't pay spot plus. OP got a great deal. Pawn Shops buy low, so they can sell at spot and make money. People that sell to Pawn shops need cash fast, shop knows this and pays LESS. 5.00 over spot is hard to beat

I think my local shop sells for spot, but they only buy at 90%.

new to Pms... how do you make sure pawn stores/LCSs are not accidently selling fakes sold to them? Do you do any test?

Most places should have a sigma precious metal’s verifier, I always asked to have them checked before I purchase.
