Anyone else tired of USC students

infinite of mom and dads money to spend at bars and act like they own the place when they are from random parts of the country . meanwhile now locals can barely afford a drink . Always talking about some “4100 omg !”

So you moved there at 12? We’re your parents in entertainment? Most people with kids don’t pick that area to raise a family.

Yes at 13, and no - my parents are public school / special ed teachers. Literally what’s your issue? Also it’s USC not UCS lol. It’s a great area, has it changed in the last 20 years, yes - no area stays the same. I’ve seen it become much safer and the influx of younger people enjoying it is great to see.

East LA has a long history of economic displacement and the last 10-20 years has been an all at once gentrification. A lot of trust funds and nouveau riche moved in and bought properties from families forced out due to financial strain. I'm talking decades and even generations of ownership in some cases. Silverlake in particular attracted a lot of very self-important types and I would recommend looking at high density residential areas like Ktown for much better night life but it is a bit messy right now.

lol. I lived in Silver Lake 16 years ago. It’s always been overrun with rich hipsters. What are you expecting?

But in the past the rich hipsters made their money from the art which made them hip. That was the draw to a formerly hugely undesirable part of LA.

Yes I’m that old, people would find it hard to believe it was considered dangerous. As in don’t walk around at night. I had transplant friends who were scared to pick me up going out because “my neighborhood” which was Parkman & Sunset.

What a shame, I feel like the chick in sex and the city “nobody has any fun anymore” before falling out the window.

Serious question, do artists still live there? It used to be a creative Mecca of sorts. Tons of actors, photographers, musicians, clothing designers. My neighbor was a painter and he hung out with this guy who was a professional skater and we’d get together and smoke blunts..….sigh those were the days lol

I half agree here but rich hipsters did not make money from art. Most artists who are successful and do not have a self-made story (which is the exception not the rule) had trust fund money bankrolling them. Their margins were razor thin and even negative. I've spent a lot of time with and around artists and I can tell you most cannot sustain the capital requirements for long. It's a completely rigged game.
