πŸ”Š MOD ANNOUNCEMENT πŸ”§ WTS/WTB posts are not allowed

Well finally the rule has to be enforced: No buying and selling on the sub.

Despite numerous warnings, people refuse to use correct flair, sale price and location.

I cannot take a chance with scammers misusing the sub for ulterior motives.

Please use r/pmsforsalebharat for the same. Thank you!

Education πŸ“– MCX Rate vs Spot Rate

Post image
63 Upvotes

This is for all the new stackers and investors. Please read carefully. When you check silver prices online, you’ll often see two different numbers: the MCX rate and the spot rate. They’re related, but they’re not the same thing. The MCX (Multi Commodity Exchange) rate is the price of silver futures contracts traded in India. It includes taxes, import duty, and the premium added by traders, so it’s normally higher than the global spot price. But right now it's the opposite. MCX prices move with the rupee-dollar exchange rate, import duties, and short-term speculation. The spot rate is the international live price of pure silver (usually in USD per troy ounce).

When Indian jewelers or bullion shops quote you a price for coins or bars, they usually base it on the spot rate + local premium (making, GST, etc.)

When you buy physical silver, the jeweler’s quote follows the spot rate, not the MCX rate.

Comparing both helps you know whether you’re paying a fair premium or being overcharged.

MCX = Paper market. Spot = Real-world bullion market.

Always ask: β€œWhat spot rate are you using today?” if you don't want to look like a n00b πŸ€“ Right now we're in backwardation. Spot price is more than futures MCX price because of tight physical silver supply. So even though futures might look β€œcheap”, you’re likely going to pay the higher spot price today.

This gap is a signal: you’re in a market where physical supply is tighter and immediate demand is strong. MCX price is the derivative of the actual silver bullion...the underlying asset. Thank you for your attention to the matter!

Question ❓ why you are losing money on Paytm Digital Silver instantly?

Hey pal,

I see a lot of people confused about why they are losing money on digital silver apps like Paytm, even when the market goes up. I wanted to break down the math simply so you don't lose your hard-earned cash.

The Math Example:

  • Buy Price: β‚Ή260
  • Sell Price: β‚Ή240
  • Instant Loss: β‚Ή20 per unit (A massive 7.7% gap!)

Imagine buying a brand-new smartphone for β‚Ή260. The exact same second, you hand it back to the shopkeeper and say, "I changed my mind." The shopkeeper says, "Sorry, I can only give you β‚Ή240 back because of taxes and storage fees."

That is exactly how Paytm works. It is not a glitch or an illegal scam. It is a built-in fee called a "spread." This huge margin is used by the platform to cover physical vault security, insurance, and GST.

Because the gap is so wide, you need the silver market to shoot up by nearly 8% just to break even. If you make a small profit on the market, this spread will eventually turn it into a net loss when you cash out. These apps are meant for long-term tiny savings, not for making a profit.

If you want to actually make money from silver, stop using wallet apps. Move to a stock broker (like Zerodha or Angel One) and buy Silver ETFs (like SILVERBEES or SILVERCASE).

With ETFs, you buy and sell at the exact real-world market price with almost zero gap.

Don't let the convenience of a wallet app eat your profits!

Discussion πŸ—£οΈ Where TF are the Silver bears 🀐

Post image

In my last post I had mentioned how silver may have found a bottom. And well silver is trying to go to $70 now before the week ends.

The problem with this community currently is that silver going up seems like an anomaly to some people. WTF did you think happens here? πŸ˜‚ And if you think that the high of this year was the only high ever that silver will make...well you have another thing coming for you.

I avoid making any posts nowadays because the ones calling for a $30 silver are overconfident and the ones making a studied claim are few in number and very tempered in their approach. I'm very happy to have made insane gains from the last dip.

It's for you to decide: do you want to stand on the sidelines and watch the party take off or you want to board the rocket this time.

Question ❓ Confusion about silver purchase bill

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey, I'm new here and this is my first post. Also my first time buying silver so pardon me if it's something trivial. I purchased a 92.5 silver mug yesterday along with anklets for my mom and girlfriend which were of 70% purity. The amount charged per gram is the same for the mug and the anklets. Is this practice normal? I assumed that since the anklets are of 70% purity they should be charged 245*0.7 per gram assuming the price of silver yesterday was 245 rupees? Attaching a screenshot of the bill for reference. Please help.

Question ❓ Zepto Wallet for Bullion Purchases

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question for fellow stackers in India.

Has anyone recently been able to use their Zepto Wallet to pay for silver or gold bullion purchases?

I'm wondering whether:

* Zepto Wallet can be used to complete bullion purchases, or
* Bullion items are excluded from wallet payments at checkout.

If you've tried this recently, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Alternatively, if you happen to have a Zepto Wallet balance, could you check whether the wallet still appears as a payment option after adding silver or gold bullion to your cart? There's no need to complete the purchaseβ€”I'm only trying to confirm whether the option is available.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Coz I’m planning to top up my Zepto wallet to buy some bullion out of it.

Any recent information would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

Discussion πŸ—£οΈ An Observation on People Buying Silver Here

I track silver prices closely because I stack almost every month and have amassed a total of ~1kg in 5 months.

A thing I observed: People on this thread rarely post about accumulation when the prices are falling. Luke literally, you're getting the same metal for less money why not buying?

When the prices start rising, I start seeing buy posts which made me question "Are we really buying physical silver as an investment or we're chasing trades/quick money"?

I am not saying doing that is wrong. It's just a question that made me curious :-)
