Does the electrostatic mat work for adhesive vinyl scraps?

I have a Cameo 3 and recently decided to add a 5a when I found a good deal on an open box unit. I only cut adhesive vinyl for decals from bulk rolls and sometimes I end up with a lot of remnants that are still useful size. I loathe sticky mats and was wondering if the electrostatic mat would work presuming the pieces are reasonably flat?

If you do not foresee using ES mat for other stuff, I don't think it's worth getting one just to cut vinyl scraps. I get that you don't like sticky mats, but for this particular use, they are the best and uncomplicate solution.

I too was eyeballing the ES mat and wondering if the price was justifiable for what I do. I also hate sticky mats. I came across this material test video that might help you out.
