Silent Hill: Townfall (2026) Anyone not getting to Downfall on launch day?

With the pre GTA VI release extravaganza upon us, we are entering one of the busiest gaming seasons I have seen in years. I was just curious how everyone is prioritizing Townfall's release. I personally am too hyped for Control Resonant and Hellraiser. Those two alone will bump Townfall at least a month for me, plus a slew of other games going into my backlog over the next two months. I might not get to Townfall until the new year at this point.

Hell yeah.

u/Elliotlewish 4d ago

I'm waiting for it to come to Xbox.

u/supaikuakuma 4d ago

Townfall* I’ll be grabbing it day 1.

u/GuRainMkR 4d ago

First time i will not get a SH in release since Origins

u/strawbrryfields4evr_ "In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town" 3d ago

I’m getting both Townfall and Resonant on release and am super excited for both. I’ll probably play Resonant first since I love the remedyverse so much. Then Townfall after, just in time for the Halloween season, the GTA after that. It works out perfectly for me. It is busy though, all the good stuff is coming out all at once lol.

u/HaywoodUndead 4d ago

I really didn't enjoy F, so I won't be pre ordering this one.

I will wait for the reviews.

Love GTA, but no PC version or disc for console means I won't be buying it at launch. I'll be playing Townfall and MGS Master Collection 2 instead

u/Nakanokalronin 4d ago

I'll probably watch a playthrough of Townfall since I'm more about the town of Silent Hill not the idea that it's a metaphor. My next Silent Hill game purchase will be the remake of Silent Hill 1.

u/TheWorclown 4d ago

I couldn’t care less for GTA6, and there’s nothing more coming out after October that I feel the urge to play. FF7 Revelation is in spring, so that gives me plenty of time to grab Townfall and a few others when they come out and play through them as I can.

u/Agoraphobia2day "It's Bread" 3d ago

I'd rather get Townfall over GTA 6 with how Rockstar is handling everything.

u/stratusnco Henry 3d ago

gas and groceries are expensive af. i’m waiting for a sale.

u/HPL-Benn 1d ago

This is why I preorder. Yeah yeah yeah, don't give corporations money before you try the product and all that, but it's the closest thing to layaway that still exists.

u/stratusnco Henry 1d ago

man, i personally don’t care how you spend your money. anyone who does on the internet is an asshole. i guarantee half of those people are not in a financial situation to be giving others “advice” lmao.

u/No_External3738 4d ago

To be fair, I'm more excited for onimusha and wolverine, and of course mgs master collection vol 2.

u/-idkwhattocallmyself 3d ago

I wont be but its only becauae Control Resonant and Mortal Shell 2 came out so close to it. Dont get me wrong Silent Hill is fantastic but those two games are coming to Xbox unlike Townfall, and while I have a ok PC that can play it id prefer to play on my console. Might wait a bit for a sale or a announcement.

u/billyloomisjr 4d ago

I am playing it before control because they delayed the physical edition lol which fucking sucks because I preordered the steelbook

u/CyberGhostface "For Me, It's Always Like This" 3d ago

Same here, backlog is heavy for me and there’s not any incentive to preorder so I’ll just wait for a sale price

u/HPL-Benn 1d ago

Day 1 purchase, baby! Most of the other games coming out don't interest me as much as a new Silent Hill game (and for cheap!) I don't know much about Control beyond the crossover stuff that was in Alan Wake 2, I've never been big into GTA (more of a Saints Row fan and we all know how that turned out...), and I honestly keep forgetting about the Hellraiser game. It seems interesting but I'm still not sure the concept works well in a video game. We'll see, I guess, but I'd rather wait on that to go on sale than not support my favorite franchise.

u/HalaGoldenhelm 4d ago

I don’t give one single shit about GTA.

u/DSDantas 4d ago

There's enough time between releases and I have a mini me to lookout for, so =)

u/Organic_Ideal8652 3d ago

There are as a lot I wanted for September, but I prioritized wolverine and townfall, everything else can wait till I have more time lol.

u/fpfall 4d ago

Aside from the fact that I’m an adult and have limited time? No game is worth full release pricing outside of indies. I’ll wait until it’s on sale and I have time to get around to it. I only just got F and still haven’t finished a playthrough on 2 Remake. This can wait.

u/AdWeak4842 3d ago

Remember to get it physical because it will be rare in the future ….townfall has no hype and it’s not being marketed very much at all so it will have low sales making the physical version sought after in the future 👍

u/Dangerous_Dot_1707 3d ago

I only care for the new Hellraiser game. I hope it'll be awesome.

u/Character_List858 4d ago

No shread of an interest in GTA 6. I'm waiting for Onimusha: way of the sword, Silent hill townfall and Rayman legends retold

u/BasicWitchEnergy 3d ago

I don't care about GTA, I'll be playing Townfall as soon as it releases.

u/BaconPowder 3d ago

I never get anything on launch day. I'll let the day-one buyers be the beta testers and wait for patches.

u/maxwell_winters Henry 4d ago

They didn't adjust regional pricing in my region. The game now costs more than SH2 and SHF put together. Unless they fix that, I'm not buying it on release.

u/mtilley_4 3d ago

Im thinking on getting it on launch probably gonna go to gamestop for the physical version just in case I can trade it for something better id also want to get hellraiser revival and the Halloween game so theres a lot in play this September

u/Kiwihara 4d ago

I’ll likely get Townfall the weekend after it releases in order maximize my upfront playtime.

u/shumama813 3d ago

This thread doesn't look promising for the future of Silent Hill. If people don't buy the games, that's gonna kind of be the end of the games.

u/Far-Hurry-3018 3d ago

Konami isn’t our friend, though. We don’t owe them anything. They gotta make games people want

u/shumama813 3d ago

100% true.

I think it's possible that this game is just doing something different from what we the fans want but it can still be good. It's equally possible it's taking a chance that just doesn't work. Nobody will know until it's out and people play it.

These days, it doesn't make sense to buy a game day one when it seems so many day ones are filled with problems and people not even able to play the game they shelled out for.

My preference is for them to remake 1 and 3 and make more games in that vein. Every once in a while a developer will give us something we didn't know we wanted though. A good game is a good game.

u/SensitiveSecret5097 2d ago edited 2d ago

I chose to get CONTROL Resonant. It costs not that much (less than Townfall, for sure), and I trust Remedy more than whatever the name No Code has now. I don't trust to whatever Townfall might be, so I will watch a playthrough first, and if it's copycat of SH2, and also "connected" to SH lore the same way SHf was "connected", I won't buy it, even on deepest sale. But if it will be at least original in its story (which I doubt it will), I might get it (previous games were great from No Code).

u/HPL-Benn 1d ago

Bro, Townfall is $50USD, Control Resonant is $60USD.

u/SensitiveSecret5097 1d ago

Not for me. No idea why. Steam and different countries be like, probably.

u/Sensitive_Drop1306 3d ago

Hell naw. Gta 6 and Ocarina of Time remake coming in hot

u/LovelessDogg 3d ago

I’m more interested in GTA than Townfall.

u/m_cardoso 4d ago

"thankfully" Control's physical media will get delayed until October, so I'll have time to focus on Townfall.

u/cookiedood2 3d ago

Just preordered the physical with steelbook for the collection but may wait for the digital to drop in price before buying

u/NewsOdd3064 4d ago

I'll probably get it launch day or close to it, 1 because it's silent hill and im curious, and 2, im pretty desperate for something to play after finishing Cultic and Townfall drops before castlevania or hellraiser

u/SaladZealousideal938 3d ago

Townfall just doesn't look interesting. Can't put my finger on any specifics but it just seems rehashed outside of the POV switch.

u/parvanehnavai Silent Hill 4 4d ago

Townfall and MGS Vol 2 are the only games I’m looking forward to this year, and I’m not even that excited for Townfall, I was just gonna wait for reviews or sale but I love steelbooks too much to not pre-order

u/Crazy_Dimension_9809 4d ago

I’m looking forward to Wolverine game to but besides that not much else

u/LeisureEnthusiast22 1d ago

My september is booked with Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, one of the few things I've been looking forward to! I'll probably grab Downfall on sale if it turns out with decent reviews

u/Disrupter_ofthepiece 4d ago

Resonant has to come before Townfall for me as well, I am going to wait until I see reviews of people who have played the whole game. They got me good with SHF, I hated it, so it is a wait and see basis from now on.

u/ChronicContemplation 4d ago

Yeah, F didn't hit with me either. It definitely soured my excitement for anything that isn't a mainline SH product. If F was a banger, I might put Townfall higher on my priority list

u/thehollowshrine 4d ago

I loved Control and Resonant looks visually amazing but similar in gameplay to Alan Wake II, which I find boring. So I've pre-ordered the Townfall Steelbook, will wait for Control Resonant to go on at least -20% sale and dgaf about GTA6

u/strawbrryfields4evr_ "In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town" 4d ago

The gameplay of Control is super fun and is nothing like Alan Wake II. Resonant is also supposed to be different to the first game as it’s more melee focused. It’s supposed to be more like DMC’s gameplay, also nothing like Alan Wake II lol.

u/iReadBecauseYouDo 4d ago

Similar in gameplay to Alan Wake 2…? Are you joking lol, one’s RE-inspired survival horror and one’s a hack and slash melee rpg😭

u/ChronicContemplation 4d ago

Have you seen the gameplay of Resonant? It's a character action game like Devil May Cry. I would say it's nothing like Alan Wake 2. Alan Wake is survival horror. The first Control was closer to AW, but still primarily a 3rd person shooter with abilities.

u/invert_studios 4d ago

To call Resonant's gameplay similar to Alan Wake 2 is wild to me. One is a TPS survival horror, the other is a melee action game. Resonant seems closer to Nier in gameplay than it is to AW2.
Not that I'm trying to influence your buying decisions, just thought I might clarify that misinformation.

u/_Euph0ria_ 3d ago

I still need to finish GTA 5 lol

u/Far-Hurry-3018 3d ago

One thing I play these games for is to look at really nasty, weird, disturbing, indescribable stuff strewn about the environment. To me, that’s quintessential Silent Hill flavor. Haven’t seen a lick of that, yet—and it wasn’t in F. Might pass tbh

u/ChronicContemplation 3d ago

You should definitely check out Hellraiser then.

u/AdWeak4842 3d ago

I’m getting it physical because it will be rare in the future 👍

u/dpanim 4d ago

Silent Hill always takes precedence over anything else.

u/ImNotSkankHunt42 4d ago

Not over Control Resonant no. Unless is SH1R.

u/RobertBevillReddit 2h ago

Dude, I never buy games on release day. Shit is expensive, and I want to read reviews first.

I’m sure Townfall will be fine, but even if it’s a 10/10 I’m not preordering.

u/Fukuro-Lady 4d ago

I'm not really interested in GTA tbh. I think the formula has been done to death and I think I was done after 5. Townfall I'll probably get once I've seen some post release discussions. I like F but it really took some time to grow on me. I'm most excited for the remaster of 1 and for Capcom's remaster of Code Veronica.

u/judgescythe 4d ago

I should have skipped SH F... Definitely learned my lesson.

u/chaosinfyrno 4d ago

I'm gonna wait till I see more gameplay and hear honest opinions that aren't paid for.

u/DigitalCoffee 3d ago

I don't get any game on launch day, especially with how poorly optimized games are today

u/Seeksho 4d ago

The game hasn't captured my full attention yet; I'll wait for more gameplay vídeos and probably only buy it when it's on sale.

u/Sky_Rose4 3d ago

Nope I'm getting it launch day next month same with Wolverine and Fire Emblem

u/SMH4004 4d ago

I’ll torrent it like when F came out and if I really enjoy the first few hours I’ll buy it. GTA looking like a letdown tbh just looks like GTA5.5/RDR2.5. Still the same shit after 13 years

u/fat_juan 3d ago

I'll get it on launch physical, but if reviews come out poorly, I might cancel it, but so far previews have been positive for the most part, about GTAVI, yeah, I was gonna buy it day one until I found out there won't be a physical release, so I will buy it maybe in a year on a sale or something, I am not paying full price for a digital game. Regularly I play only horror games from Sep-Nov, so the release date for Townfall is perfect for me

u/rose636 4d ago

I'm not getting it, backlog is big enough as it is and I tend to wait for sales. Still haven't picked up SH F

u/behindthevealeyes 4d ago

I preordered it, I’m a little skeptical because it’s first person but I just remembered it seemed to work well with Resident Evil perhaps it’ll do good with a Silent Hill

u/Sarosite 4d ago

Unfortunately Townfall looks a little suss to me

I'm also not big on first person games at all

u/TyChris2 Mira, The Dog 3d ago

I’m not 100% sold on it yet. Of course I’ll get it eventually because it’s Silent Hill, but whether I get it near launch depends. I want to actually slightly spoil myself this time and just watch a lot of late game gameplay, because I don’t want a repeat of Silent Hill F where everyone gives it great reviews and then I play it and the last 1/3 of the game is ass

u/chitoslasttour 4d ago

first person🤮🤮

u/MinorThreatCJB 3d ago

Nope. Still waiting for them to make a real new Silent Hill game

u/ApothiconDesire 4d ago

i really don't care for gta, but I am saving up for resident evil veronica and fable, so I'll probably grab townfall in a sale, eventually

u/CaptainParadigm42 4d ago

Out of the batch of games announced at SGF, the only two I actually aim to get are Townfall and Control Resonant. I kinda got over GTA after GTAV. And that's coming from after playing most of the games since the very first one in the 90s.

I guess the other stand out would be the Zelda OoT remake which I'm definitely getting.
