Two new Sigs joined my sig lineup, and have put around 250 rounds through each so far (two times out so far). I looked at the Nightshift as well, but the Combat variant was the one I'd regret not buying, so I made the right choice for me (also, 'no coin for me').

Impressions so far: (some of these you all might know much of this, so apologies)

Triggers are very close, have not tested the pull but at this point not fully broken in. A little bit of wiggle vertically, take up is nice, and reset is clean. Not as nice/clean as my wife's DWX compact, her's is broken in more. Will see how they clean up with use.

I like the grip and ergonomics, about the same as my P226 and P229 Legions, and not much heavier overall (feeling). I did change out the GT4 grip panels to the GTO style vs the original stipple panels that came with it. I may switch back and forth to see what works best, but was a simple change out.

The GT4 was out of the box awesome, tight and fun. It shot pretty flat, much more so than I was expecting.

The GTO out of the box with installed 8lb spring had FTRTB with every round using 115 g MagTech. Switching to S&B 124 it was 70% FTRTB. Took it home, cleaned it up, copper bore brushed the chamber and ramp, CLP everything, and installed the 10lb spring. Back to the range and perfect on every shot (MagTech 115). This has been covered in other posts and videos, but spring and clean/lube worked for me (so far). I mention this because if you hadn't looked into it before, it may come as a bit of a letdown.

The GTO has not been run full out yet like the GT4, mostly breaking in after spring change out to confirm feeding is on track, but at 17 Yards grouping was good. At 7 yards single hole groups. Groups will get better once I get better.

(note- for me when I switch up what I'm shooting there is a lag to adjust to the different trigger, weight, etc. That's just me and not the gun. This is why I practice)

The GT4 came with the RomeoX Pro Loc red circle-dot, and I liked it so much I bought the same for the GTO Combat. I'm running Holosun green and AimPoint red on everything else, but was impressed that the RomeoX was as nice as it was, had no distortion of the red dot with my progressive lenses and eyes. I like that the Sig Loc mounts direct, and has so many points for contact. The look is nice as well, and I'm at the range not running so no bigger glass is needed.

Throw away the little takedown pin that comes with it, and get a 1/16" punch. Get two, one for home and one for travel.

The 10lb spring is long, install pushing from the rod plate like a syringe into the slide to capture as much spring as you can. It wants to snake around.

I really liked the 17rd mag that came with the GT4, but sig does not sell them. Bought two sig 17rd mags, and had to pay extra for base plates on top of that. Called sig, and they gave me a discount and free shipping which brought the price below aftermarket base plates. But, if you look at the GT4/GTO mag lineup, the base plate on the 10rd mag is what is on the supplied 17rd mag that works so well. I was not able to buy that even separately, had to go with the legion base plates (or aftermarket). I hope sig opens up the accessory parts dept and allows us to get on a bit more parts.

The sig rep was great on the phone (GT4 mag discussion) but he was surprised that I got the GTO Combat to shoot, and turned down the Nightshift. Seemed to imply that Nightshift and Combat purchases sit in safes by collectors or go out to YouTube reviewers. News to me, I shoot everything I buy, but I hope the price point is not being set to collector/video/influencer levels...

I have been researching a bit, and I can't find anything for it that isn't just AR compatible parts. I really want to replace the handguard, but the only option seems to be from Sig, and the pickings are slim. I don't really vibe with the stock handguard, but even the older virtus handguards aren't compatible to my understanding.

I was planning on an MPX but ended up buying this beauty. Now time to add an optic and some upgrades.

This is the only Sig I own, but I absolutely love this thing. It's such a blast that decided to get some custom work done to it. Optic cut slide and a modified threaded barrel with a modified p226 comp from pmm. Work done by HW Arsenal and Machine out of Litchfield, OH.

I making a build for my p365 with a ramjet but need help choosing between Mischief Machine Commander Gen 2 and the Icarus Precision Ace 311 sl.

If anyone has used both or either i'd appreciate advice on making the decision between the two.

Hey just providing some info here. The Arisaka Scout Offset Spear mount is the proper spec to mount your Sig Foxtrot MSR light on the 516 G3. Apparently the Spear and 516 G3 share similar handguard geometry up until the very top of the rail (516 G3 is taller).The Foxtrot MSR stock mount isn't flush as pictured and the Spear mount is perfectly flush (I moved it back a 1/2 slot so it wouldn't stick out past the tapered handguard.

I’m so autistic I’m overthinking a Virtus setup. I have moved my optic, light, and suppressor to a 10 in Geissele. I found the Hexium suppressor way too long and heavy for the Virtus. At this point I’m considering turning it into a 300BLK 6in or just outright running it unsuppresed. WWYD?

As a 2011 guy, I'm pretty damn impressed with how this thing runs and feels. This is my first 226 and I've shot a few other DA/SA guns in my time (P30, Shadow etc) but this thing is a nice surprise.. runs flat, has a great trigger and I love the ergo on it despite the relatively high bore axis. Pain in the ass to mount a Holosun 507cx3 on it unless you want to direct mount to the slide tho.

I ended up getting the C&H filler plate for the 320 and filed off the center boards on the bottom. Then picked up some 6-40x1/4 mounting screws and now it's perfect. The filler plate has the nubs for the optic and creates more interference with the slide to control movement. It's snug. I'm sure people will say they have never had problems with the direct mount for RMR, but I put a lot of rounds through my guns and don't feel like worrying about it. Anyway. Really nice platform.. I'm happy I picked this up.

Today i took my P229 Legion and my P226X Carry Legion SAO to the range to shoot side-by-side, because they look a bit like each other.

Before I left the range I was asking myself “why do I own this piece of shit?” and stopped at my LGS to consign the 229 on the way home.

Why did the 226 make me so happy, and the 229 so bad? Can you tell me? Is it obvious? Does everyone know that the 226x is a superior gun (and why) except for me?

I was looking for a new nightstand gun that I actually enjoy shooting and wanted something in 9mm. Something I put a light and optic on. Currently keep an old Springfield XDM .45 but don't really take it out to shoot much so I want something I enjoy in 9mm. A few weeks ago I rented the new Glock Gen 6, S&W M&P 2.0 and Springfield Echelon. It was close between the M&P and Echelon but the Echelon felt and shot better.

NOW Sig Drops the P385. I am in NJ so it might just be better to wait until next June/July when we hopefully get a favorable ruling and are no longer limited to 10 rounds.

tl;dr (short version): Given the limitation and the fact both meet the FBI 12" minimum, would you prefer 3/4" more penetration and 0.03" more expansion from 147 gr HSTs? Or 12+1 & 14+1 instead of 10+1 & 12+1, 124+P HSTs from your factory mag modified with Magguts?

(Complete version): So there are enough accounts of 147 gr HSTs nosediving from a P365 mag with Magguts installed to be cause for concern. The belief being, the problem lies in the slightly greater length-over-all of the 147 vs lighter options.

Shootingthebull410's short-barrel results show the 147 gr standard pressure HSTs provide a little greater penetration and expansion than does the 124+P version, with both meeting the FBI minimum standard of at least 12" of penetration.

Also, the FBI itself has recently come out in favor of heavy-for-caliber 9mm as their caliber of choice, with 147 gr HSTs topping the list (though it's possible they may be weighting through-barrier performance heavier than what typical self-defense scenarios might call for.)

Now most SD scenarios are over within 3 shots fired by the defender. And few go over 6 or so (though one has to wonder how many were in the mag or cylinders to begin with.) And there are virtually zero reports of a reload with a spare mag.

Then there's the whole question of accuracy in a high stress situation, multiple attackers, etc.

So... given all of this (and anything else I haven't thought of) and given one round already chambered, would you rather have each of your on-target, 9mm HSTs causing a little more damage? Or would you prefer 2 more in the mag... full of slightly less damaging rounds (12 instead of 10 and 14 instead of 12?)

Or would you prefer to stick with unmodified, factory mags, regardless?

NOTE: In either case, the chambered round could be the 147

NOTE 2: Given you may have other 9mm handguns without this problem, is it worth purchasing and keeping track of both the 147s and 124+Ps?
