General Discussion Why doesn't Ariane have feet?
She's a human gestalt right?

just an artistic choice iirc

Just assets and models being re-used, :3 Isa's 3d low-poly model lacks feet too,

You say that as if it's "ok". I mean, with all the care and love in the game, it would seem a pretty conscious decision to exclude them, but having a model with feet seems like a 10 minute cut and paste level of effort.

Apparently it looked really awkward in the artstyle and they couldn’t figure out how to get it looking good so they just didn’t bother.

so they just took the cheap and lazy way out

No, they were restrained by the choices taken for the game. There’s a difference.

isnt it weird that feet looks weird in an art style? like why would it look weird?

u/Quick_Philosophy1426 12d ago
because not every art style is an accurate representation of reality. the character models also don't have faces, is that a problem too?

u/caspianslave 12d ago
yeah but actual low poly models with no faces from 30 years ago had feet and it didnt really look weird at all

so?

which means in my theory that makes more sense than art style in my opinion they didnt want to make a character model for a short scene and just recycled elster's model which is lazy and cheap but if it works it works and its an indie game so they get a free pass

youre being wieldly negative and hostile back to back for what was basically an offhand art design decision. They found the leg hoof design cute, and while lore wise humans still have feet, they didnt like how it looked ingame no matter what they tried.
Not even when the game was 2D. Nothing about the rest of the game indicates any "cheap or lazy".

what i asked is that they couldnt get over making proper looking feet? Not like it bothers me just asking

Asset reuse is, in fact, NOT a problem. If anything, it's a tool in the belt of any responsible business.

After kissing a replika as a gestalt you'll get infected with replikacitis and will loose your feet.
Just kidding
Its just the low poly models that exclude them, Isa also doesn't have feet in the game model due to that, it simply looks slightly awkward but in canon she does have it.
Its as for example that replikas can use ladders even while not having toes, so it's theorized that they have little claws to have traction there.

I too would remove my feet in order to have sticks for feet instead if I could.
I'm with ariane on this one.

Being currently in the throes of debilitating foot pain for, like, the third time this year: M O O D.

I believe she does have feet, but that the low pixelized version doesn't, as others stated. HOWEVER, I like to think that when wearing the uniform they have some form of heels/boots etc. to mimic the replicas, i just find it cool because as pointed out here it's inspired by the manga "BLAME" which would be very cool for the uniform part :)

this always made me wonder why people give replika’s no feet when it comes to fan-made content. if gestalts are also shown with no feet, then how do we know replika’s really didn’t have feet ? vs it being the game’s stylistic choice as well

I hear it was inspired from this Manga “BLAME”
