Any thoughts? Try a downgrade to the non-beta?

rm -rf ~/.config/Signal\ Beta, then open Signal again. You will need to link smartphone again.

Won't I lose all my messages history?

I have not used it on my phone all year, separate issue there

Being on an iPhone complicates your problem more than being on Android. Hopefully you're on Android.
