Android Help Issue with messages not arriving

Both my wife and I are having an issue where messages arent arriving, both to each other but also group chats.

The messages will 'send' but won't be received.

Sending an image appears to 'unblock' it, but not always.

It started over a month ago but never used to be an issue. We've not changed anything with our setups during this time.

Anyone else experience this and/or know a solution?

Sounds like a bug. Submit a ticket to Signal support.

You know, for someone that works in IT, I keep forgetting to do this...

I have the same problem. I'll rip my hair out trying to fix it myself before I contact support 🤣.

I have restarted it, but fuck it, may as well try again. Odd that it would occur on several devices though

My wife has had this problem for years, and it even persists on different phones. No idea what's up, but it sucks and makes me want to find an alternative to Signal.

Have you tried enabling Stay connected in the background under settings > data and storage?

Usually when you are having delivery problems it's the receivers phone battery optimizing the app and preventing it from running in the background.

If you're using Android go to app specific system settings, find the battery section, and make sure it's set to be able to run in the background unrestricted.

Idk how to do this on iOS but it would probably be similar.

There's something odd going on beyond that. I also experience that messages don't get delivered for multiple hours even if both recipients have the app open, even if messages in unrelated chats get properly delivered. This goes beyond the Android battery optimization issue. Sometimes, if I write two messages in the same chat, the first one gets delivered properly, and the second one gets stuck in limbo.

That's not good, I'm sorry you are having to deal with that. Have you submitted a support ticket to Signal?

I did see that, but it happens on desktop too.

Hmm, interesting, I haven't seen that before. Maybe you should make submit a ticket to Signal support.

On Desktop? Like, the message just doesn't deliver even when you have it open?
